Silicon nanoparticles (Si‐NPs) are considered as possible candidates for a wide spectrum of future technological applications. Research in the last decades has shown that plasmas are one of the most suitable environments for the synthesis of Si‐NPs. This review discusses the unique size‐dependent features of Si‐NPs, a…
Acrylic acid can be selectively produced from biomass-derived allyl alcohol using an oxidic Au/ceria catalyst prepared by the deposition–precipitation method.
Three dimensional (3D) heteroatom-doped active carbon as a flexible supercapacitor electrode is explored with a starting material of silkworm fibers and low molecular weight phenol resin composite.
The correlation between hierarchical structures and polarization switching in ferroelectric poly(vinylidene fluoride-ran-trifluoroethylene) has been probed by combining transmission electron microscopy studies with piezoresponse force microscopy observations. Differences are demonstrated between homogeneous and anisot…
Warp-knitted spacer fabrics for cushion products are in contact with different parts of human body. Surface shapes of most contacting parts can be simplified as spherical caps, while there are few reports on relationship between sphere diameter and compression property of spacer fabric. Therefore, the main content dea…
In this work, Ni-doped ZnO/Al composites were prepared by a facile chemical co-precipitation method. The morphology and structure of the as-prepared composites were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy…
We here focus on the chiroptical response of a glutathione (GS)-protected bimetallic (AuAg) 18 nanocluster containing comparable amounts of Au and Ag atoms. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) as well as the electrophoretic pattern allow us to determine the chemical composition of the nanocluster as Au 8.5 Ag 9.5 (…
ABSTRACT The purpose of the study was to obtain a composite material with the self‐reinforced structure, which processing provide increased mechanical properties. The composites used in presented work were prepared from the two types of fiber mixtures, both were based on polypropylene fibers, the difference was in use…
Molecular dynamics simulations of bent [100] α‐Fe nanowires show the nucleation of twins and nanoscale interfaces that lead to pseudo‐elasticity during loading/unloading cycles. The new type of interfaces along {110} stems from the accumulation of individual <111>/{112} twin boundaries and stores high interfacia…
A self-assembled cobalt molecular grid of a pyrazine-bridged bis-tridentate ligand (L(R)), where R = H (1), CH3 (2), and Br (3), was prepared and structurally characterized. Depending on the electronic effects of the substituents on the ligand, the redox of the metal center was systematically modulated, and the magnet…
Vanadium dioxide (VO 2 ) is a common material for use in thermochromic windows due to a semiconductor‐to‐metal transition (SMT) that is coupled with a change in infrared opacity. Commercialization of VO 2 ‐based thermochromic technology is hampered by relatively expensive synthesis and film fabrication techniques as w…
A functional copolymer platform, namely, poly[(propargyl methacrylate)-ran-(2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine)] (PPgMAMPC), was synthesized by reversible addition-fragmentation chain-transfer polymerization. In principle, the alkyne moiety of propargyl methacrylate (PgMA) should serve as an active site for bind…
The present work focuses on exchanging the sodium in Na-bentonite by single (Mg, Zn and Sr) and double (Zn–Mg, Mg–Sr and Zn–Sr) cations to induce the cation-exchange process. Different cation-exchange bentonites (CEBs) were used as reinforcing fillers with different loadings in acrylonitrile–butadiene rubber (NBR) com…
This work presents the crystal structure evolution of a novel ionic conductor Sr 11 Mo 4 O 23 at high temperature. The formula of this phase can be rewritten as Sr 1.75 □ 0.25 SrMoO 5.75 , highlighting the relationship with double perovskites A 2 B ′ B ′′O 6 . The crystal network contains oxygen-anion and strontium-ca…
Herein we report the facile synthesis of three dimensional macroporous (MP) silver monoliths serving as intelligent biomaterials against Gram negative ( Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhimurium ) and Gram positive ( Bacillus subtilis ) bacteria with more efficacy against Gram negative bacteria. The macroporous silver…
The construction of simple and efficient assays to detect collagen biomarkers plays a critical role in developing novel diagnosis and therapies for the highly prevalent chronic fibroproliferative diseases. Inspired by the successful development of various GO-based biosensors for DNA utilizing its well-known double hel…
The results of investigating the influence of fillers of different nature on the thermal conductivity of polymer composites are widely presented in modern scientific works of many authors. However, there has been little analysis of the obtained data within existing percolation models of thermal conductivity. Using mat…
The simultaneous detection of multiple enzyme activities can improve the specificity of disease diagnoses. We therefore synthesized and characterized a diamagnetic chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) MRI contrast agent that can simultaneously detect two enzyme activities. Sulfatase and esterase enzymes cleave…
We demonstrate band edge lasing action from a cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) containing an aggregation-induced-emission (AIE) dye as gain material. AIE materials do not suffer aggregation-caused quenching, have strong resistance to photobleaching, and can show large Stokes shift. The amplified spontaneous emission (…
