Here we report the absorbance of a single phase ferromagnetic MnCr2O4. The crystal field transition for both the Cr3+ and Mn2+ ion is presented here through absorption spectroscopy. The Raman modes calculated by incorporating the spiral spin configuration showed some discrepancies with the experimental data.
