Rakesh Joshi、A. Kanjilal、H.K. Sehgal2003-05-28Nanotechnology

The optical band gap ( E g ) of Pb 1− x Fe x S solution-grown nanoparticle films was varied from 2.65 to 2.22 eV with an increase in iron concentration 0.25 ≤ x ≤ 0.75 in films grown at fixed pH and temperature by the chemical bath deposition method. The presence of excitonic structure in the ternary Pb 1− x Fe x S fo…

A novel approach of chemical functionalization on nano-scaled silica particles

Ying‐Ling Liu、Chih‐Yuan Hsu、Meiling Wang 等 4 位作者2003-05-28Nanotechnology

Chemical functionalization on nano-scaled silica particles was performed through the reaction between the silanol group of silica and the oxirane ring of epoxy compounds. The occurrence of the surface functionalization and the chemical structures of the resulting products were characterized with FTIR and 1 H NMR. Ener…

Controlling Short‐ and Long‐Range Electron Transfer Processes in Molecular Dyads and Triads

Luis Sánchez、Ignacio Pérez Pérez、Nazario Martı́n 等 4 位作者2003-05-28Chemistry - A European Journal

Novel pi-extended tetrathiafulvalene (exTTF)-based donor acceptor hybrids-dyads and triads-have been synthesized following a multistep synthetic procedure. Cyclic voltammetry and absorption spectroscopy, conducted in room temperature solutions, reveal features that are identical to the sum of the separate donor and ac…

Lung cancer risk in workers exposed to poly(vinyl chloride) dust: a nested case-referent study

Giuseppe Mastrangelo、Ugo Fedeli、Emanuela Fadda 等 6 位作者2003-05-28Occupational and Environmental Medicine

BACKGROUND: There have been few investigations of an association between poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) dust exposure and an increase in lung cancer incidence, and their conclusions have been inconsistent. AIMS: To determine whether PVC and/or vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) is the associated risk factor(s), by means of a ne…

Local scale invariance as dynamical space-time symmetry in phase-ordering kinetics

Malte Henkel、Michel Pleimling2003-05-28arXiv

The scaling of the spatio-temporal response of coarsening systems is studied through simulations of the 2D and 3D Ising model with Glauber dynamics. The scaling functions agree with the prediction of local scale invariance, extending dynamical scaling to a space-time dynamical symmetry.
