S. Lindig、M. Balden、V.Kh. Alimov 等 8 位作者2011-12-01Physica Scripta

Tungsten is a promising candidate for plasma-facing materials in fusion reactors. In this work, two types of W materials were investigated: (i) sintered and forged tungsten (ITER-grade Japan, grain sizes 2–100 μm, elongated normal to the surface) and (ii) the same W grade, but after additional re-crystallization (at 2…

Cyclization Reaction of Diarylethene through the Triplet Excited State

Ryutaro Murata、Tomoaki Yago、Masanobu Wakasa2011-12-01Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan

Abstract Photocyclization reaction of 1,2-bis(2-methyl-3-benzothienyl)perfluorocyclopentene (BT) in methanol was studied by using nanosecond laser flash photolysis at 296 K. When xanthone was used as a triplet sensitizer, the triplet energy transfer occurred efficiently and the closed-ring product of BT was observed.

Extreme nonlinear optics of nematic liquid crystals [Invited]

I. C. Khoo2011-12-01Journal of the Optical Society of America B

Laser induced director axis reorientation and order parameter changes in nematic liquid crystals give rise to extremely nonlinear optical responses characterized by nonlinear index coefficients that can reach values exceeding 103  cm2/Watt. An historical account and critical analyses of the theoretical b…

Fabrication of ZrO2coatings on ferritic steel by wet-chemical methods as a tritium permeation barrier

Yuji Hatano、K Zhang、Kenta Hashizume2011-12-01Physica Scripta

Layers of tetragonal ZrO 2 (180 nm) were prepared on the surfaces of ferritic steel specimens by dip coating and electrolytic deposition techniques. These methods were selected because of their applicability to large and complicated structures. Hydrogen permeation tests were carried out at 300–550 °C, and the results…

Effects of chain stiffness and salt concentration on responses of polyelectrolyte brushes under external electric field

Qianqian Cao、Chuncheng Zuo、Lujuan Li 等 4 位作者2011-12-01Biomicrofluidics

We report a molecular dynamics study on non-equilibrium dynamics of polyelectrolyte brushes under external electric fields. In this work, the effects of chain stiffness and salt concentration on static and dynamic responses of the brushes are addressed in detail. Our simulations indicate that varying these parameters…

Natural fiber-based reinforcements in epoxy composites processed by filament winding

Päivi Lehtiniemi、Kari Dufva、T. G. Owe Berg 等 5 位作者2011-12-01Journal of Reinforced Plastics and Composites

Single natural fibers have rather high mechanical properties; especially, Young’s modulus can be as high as for E-glass fibers. However, the good properties of natural fibers are not exploited efficiently in existing applications. Continuous fibers are required for high-performance applications. Filament winding is a…

New Insights into the Mechanisms of the Interactions Between Doxorubicin and the Ion-Exchange Hydrogel DC Bead™ for Use in Transarterial Chemoembolization (TACE)

Marco Biondi、Sabato Fusco、Andrew L. Lewis 等 4 位作者2011-12-01Journal of Biomaterials Science Polymer Edition

Ion-exchange microspheres (IEMs) are widely employed in controlled drug delivery of ionic drugs due to their high loading capacity and the possibility to obtain the controlled release of the loaded drug(s) at a specific site. Among IEMs, DC Bead(™) are embolic microdevices (100-300 μm diameter) designed for transarter…

Correcting the Fabry-Perot artifacts in metamaterial retrieval procedures

Xing-Xiang Liu、David A. Powell、Andrea Alù2011-12-01Physical Review B

We discuss the well-known limitations in the retrieval of homogenized constitutive parameters based on reflection and transmission from metamaterial slabs arising near the Fabry-Perot resonances of the samples under analysis. The associated artifacts can significantly affect the retrieval results, causing Lorentzian-l…
