Synergistic effect of lipophilic carboxylic acids and heterocyclic axial ligands in alkene epoxidation by hydrogen peroxide catalysed by manganese(III) tetra-aryl porphyrins

Pier Lucio Anelli、Stefano Banfi、Fernando Montanari 等 4 位作者1989-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Chemical Communications

The rate of alkene epoxidation promoted by 30% H2O2 and catalysed by MnIII tetra (2,6-dichlorophenyl)porphyrin is strongly enhanced by the addition of lipophilic carboxylic acids and lipophilic imidazole or pyridine axial ligands, in 1–8 : 1 and 1 : 1 molar ratios with respect to the porphyrin.

Young's equilibrium contact angle on rough solid surfaces. Part I. An empirical determination

R.‐D. Schulze、Wulff Possart、H. Kamusewitz 等 4 位作者1989-01-01Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology

—The influence of the roughness of solid surfaces on the contact angle hysteresis, Δ, was studied for low-energy solids (paraffin, PTFE, PMMA) using pure liquids. Taking Δ as dependent on the roughness, the contact angle data can be linearly approximated. The value of Δ = 0 is considered as the equilibrium contact ang…

Improvement of the corrosion resistance on Nd-Fe-B magnet with nickel plating

T. Minowa、Mari Yoshikawa、M. Honshima1989-01-01IEEE Transactions on Magnetics

Three kinds of corrosion tests, a humidity test (80 degrees C, 90% RH), an autoclave test (120 degrees C, 2 atm saturated with water vapor), and a salt spray test (35 degrees C, 5% NaCl), were performed on a sintered magnet treated with nickel plating. For comparison, samples with epoxy resin coating, Al ion plating,…

The Benefits of Cationic Starches for the Paper Industry

W. Nachtergaele1989-01-01Starch - Stärke

Abstract Cationic starches are widely used as wet end additives in paper making. They provide many benefits, classified into 4 categories: improvement of mechanical strength; better retention of fines and fillers; faster drainage; reduction of waste water pollution. According to the accepted theory, a 2‐part electrica…

Droplet shape and reorientation fields in nematic droplet/polymer films

Paul Drzaic、Arthur Müller1989-01-01Liquid Crystals

Polymer films containing droplets of nematic liquid crystal form an important class of new electro-optic light valves and displays. While previous work has shown that the nematic droplet size is an important factor in the electro-optic properties of these films, here we report that the droplet shape is equally importa…

Time dependence of electric permittivity in na 0.5 Bi 0.5 TiO 3 single crystals

Krystian Roleder、J. Suchanicz、A. Kania1989-01-01Ferroelectrics

Performed measurements showed that in Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3 single crystals the long-time variation of the electric permittivity is connected with the existence of polar regions. The size and dynamics of the polar regions change with temperature. These regions may be ordered in an external electric field.

Mono-oxygenase-like oxidation of hydrocarbons using supported manganese–porpnyrin catalysts: beneficial effects of a silica support for alkane hydroxylation

Pierrette Battioni、Jean-Pierre Lallier、Laurent Barloy 等 4 位作者1989-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Chemical Communications

A supported Mn–porphyrin catalyst was prepared by strong adsorption of the tetracationic Mn[meso-tetra(4-N-methylpyridiniumyl) porphyrin](Cl)4+4Cl– on silica, and was found very efficient for cyclo-octene epoxidation (95% yield, 13 turnovers per min) and for alkane hydroxylation, with alcohol yields and alcohol: keton…

Curved crystals, defects and disorder

M. Kléman1989-01-01Advances In Physics

The structure of media whose short-range order cannot be extended crystallographically in flat space (disordered metallic and covalent systems, Frank-Kasper phases, quasicrystals, blue phases and various molecular phases) is describable in terms of distributions of defects in a crystal situated in a space of constant…

Generalized Fibonacci superlattices, dynamical trace maps, and magnetic excitations

M. Kolá、Mazhar Ali1989-01-01Physical review. B, Condensed matter

Long-wavelength magnetic excitations are investigated in the quasiperiodic layered structures consisting of alternating magnetic and nonmagnetic layers, distributed according to the recently introduced generalized Fibonacci sequences. Both periodic and real boundary conditions are used. Spin-wave spectra for Fibonacci…

Synthesis of a cyclic porphyrin trimer with a semi-rigid cavity

Harry L. Anderson、Jeremy K. M. Sanders1989-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Chemical Communications

A cyclic trinuclear porphyrin host has been synthesised; its binding properties show that it has a spacious cavity which prefers an open conformation but which can close around small bidentate ligands such as 4,4′-bipyridyl.
