Distribution of {110}⟨001⟩ Oriented Grains in the Primary Recrystallized 3% Si–Fe Alloy

Jirou Harase、Ryo Shimizu1988-01-01Transactions of the Japan Institute of Metals

The distribution of {110}〈001〉 oriented grains in the primary recrystallized 3% Si–Fe alloy processed by the one-stage cold rolling method were investigated by SEM-ECC-ECP technique and the X-ray diffraction method. The main findings were in the following:(1) {110}〈001〉 oriented grains present below 30 μm from the sur…

Green's function theory of phase transition in PbHPO4and PbDPO4ferroelectrics

Wang Chunlei、Qin Zikai、Zhang Jingbo1988-01-01Ferroelectrics

In this paper, we investigated the newly found order-disorder ferroelectrics PbHPO4 along with its deuterated analogue PbDPO4. Because the major contribution of the spontaneous polarization is the dipoles forming by the proton (or deuteron) ordering, not the displacements of heavy atoms as in the case of KDP-type crys…

Strain‐induced crystallization behavior of poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK)

Ming C. Chien、R. A. Weiss1988-01-01Polymer Engineering and Science

Abstract Strain‐induced crystallization of poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK) was studied by the use of a parallel plate rheometer. The experimental variables included preheating time, crystallization temperature, and shear rate. The crystallization kinetics were characterized by means of an induction time defined as the…

Kerr electro-optic field mapping measurements in electron-beam irradiated polymethylmethacrylate

Masayuki Hikita、Markus Zahn、K. A. Wright 等 5 位作者1988-01-01IEEE Transactions on Electrical Insulation

To understand electron-caused discharges along insulating solid surfaces on spacecraft as well as in solids, Kerr electro-optic field mapping measurements have been performed in electron-beam-irradiated polymethylmethacrylate. The accumulated trapped charge results in large self-electric fields of the order of 1 to 3.…

Effect of Dispersion of ZrO2 Particles on Creep of Fine-Grained Al2O3

Fumihiro Wakai、Takeo Iga、Takayuki Nagano1988-01-01Journal of the Ceramic Society of Japan

The interface-reaction controlled diffusion creep in fine-grained Al2O3 polycrystals was affected by the dispersion state of ZrO2 particles. The ZrO2 particles at grain boundaries reduced the creep rate and increased the activation energy for creep. The stress exponents were two for both pure Al2O3 and ZrO2-containing…

Dislocation core effects in plasticity

P. Veyssière1988-01-01Revue de Physique Appliquée

An attempt at reviewing the present knowledge of dislocation intrinsic mobility in single phase chemically stable crystals is made. Metals as well as non-metals are considered. It is shown that plasticity of materials is in general dominated by dislocation core effects.

The X-ray crystal structure of (InOPri)5(µ2-OPri)4(µ3-OPri)4(µ5-O) reveals a square-pyramidal arrangement of indium atoms about a central oxygen; five of the alkoxo groups are terminal, four are µ2 about the basal metals, and four are µ3 about the triangular faces of the pyramid; the geometry about each metal is highl…

The constrained blister test for the energy of interfacial adhesion

M. J. Napolitano、A. Chudnovsky、A. Moet1988-01-01Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology

The constrained blister test (CBT) was designed to measure the energy of interfacial adhesion ( y) of polymeric films and coatings. Theoretical analysis of the CBT established a relationship between blister growth and interfacial parameters of the form A(t) A(t0)=exp[βp2h ph-γ (t- t0)] where A(t) is the blister area a…

COMBINED BUOYANCY, SURFACE TENSION FLOW IN LIQUID METALS

T. L. Bergman、John R. Keller1988-01-01Numerical Heat Transfer

The characteristics of combined buoyancy and thermocapillary flow for liquid metals in a rectangular cavity have been studied numerically. Results show that, for augmenting buoyancy and surface tension forces, qualitative flow patterns and isotherms are unchanged, but enhanced fluid velocities and heat transfer rates…

Fitting Woven Fabric to Surfaces in Three Dimensions

Francesann L. Heisey、K. D. Haller1988-01-01Journal of the Textile Institute

A computational method is presented for fitting woven fabric to nonalgebraic surfaces by using numerical-analysis techniques. The method is based upon modelling the process of smoothing fabric over a surface. Fabric co–ordinates are mapped onto the surface to be fitted. No assumptions are made about the surface to be…
