Growth of Ice IV and Equilibrium Curves between Liquid Water, Ice IV, Ice V and Ice VI

Ken Nishibata1972-11-01Japanese Journal of Applied Physics

The phase diagram of water at moderate pressures is studied by a dielectric measurement for solid-solid transitions and further by a volume change method for liquid-ice VI transition. The metastable phase ice IV can be made from ice VI on decreasing the pressure at temperatures from -13.6 to -14.6°C. The growth and th…

Polarized Elastic Materials with Electronic Spin-A Relativistic Approach

Gérard A. Maugin、A. Cemal Eringen1972-11-01Journal of Mathematical Physics

In this article, we derive the balance laws and constitutive equations of polarized elastic solids with electronic spin by use of a relativistic (special) variational principle. The theory is fully dynamical and nonlinear. It is shown that this approach encompasses several previous works in micromagnetism (magnetoelas…

Relativistic Continua with Directors

Gérard A. Maugin、A. Cemal Eringen1972-11-01Journal of Mathematical Physics

In this article, we give an axiomatic introduction of directors in the space-time continuum of Minkowski. A variational principle is presented that leads to the complete set of field equations, boundary conditions, and jump relations of the Kafadar-Eringen theory of relativistic polar media. The constitutive equations…
