D. C. Khan、M. Misra、Amit Das1982-03-01Journal of Applied Physics

The effect of addition of Ti4+ under oxidizing atmosphere on the structural and magnetic properties of Ni0.3Zn0.7Fe2O4 is studied. The results of x-ray diffraction, magnetization, and Arrott plot measurements are reported. The data are analyzed on the basis of a three sublattice Yafet-Kittel model.

Intramolecular interactions of amino groups in 13C reductively methylated hen egg-white lysozyme.

Thomas Gerken、Joyce E. Jentoft、Neil Jentoft 等 4 位作者1982-03-01Journal of Biological Chemistry

Reductive methylation of hen egg-white (HEW) lysozyme with [13C]formaldehyde and NaCNBH3 and subsequent 13C NMR spectroscopy reveal resonances for each of the mono- and dimethyl derivatives of the six lysyl epsilon-amino groups and the NH2 terminus. Each resonance has a unique chemical shift, pKa, and chemical shift c…

Microbubble formation: In vitro and in vivo observation

Arthur Kort、Itzhak Kronzon1982-03-01Journal of Clinical Ultrasound

Injection of liquid through a catheter into the circulation is known to produce clouds of signals detected by sonography. Blood forced through a stenotic conduit produced sonographic clouding, and bubbles of 10-100 microns were observed were observed by light microscopy. The microbubbles persisted up to three and a ha…

Spheres of the metallic glass Au55Pb22.5Sb22.5 and their surface characteristics

Mark C. Lee、James M. Kendall、William L. Johnson1982-03-01Applied Physics Letters

Spheres of the metallic glass Au55 Pb22.5 Sb22.5 have been formed up to a size of approximately 1.5 mm in diameter. X-ray diffraction was used to establish the glassy nature of the samples and to provide evidence of two phase-separated glass regions. Scanning electron microscopy provided a direct visual observation of…

Purification of pyruvate formate-lyase from Streptococcus mutans and its regulatory properties

S Takahashi、K Abbe、T. Yamada1982-03-01Journal of Bacteriology

Pyruvate formate-lyase (EC 2.3.1.54) from Streptococcus mutans strain JC2 was purified in an anaerobic glove box, giving a single band on disk and sodium dodecyl sulfate electrophoresis. This enzyme was immediately inactivated by exposure to the air. Enzyme activity was unstable even when stored anaerobically, but the…

Laser processing for reducing core loss of grain oriented silicon steel

Tohru Iuchi、S. Yamaguchi、Tadashi Ichiyama 等 6 位作者1982-03-01Journal of Applied Physics

A nonconstact technique for reducing the core loss of a grain oriented silicon steel has been developed by the use of Q-switched laser irradiation. Vaporization of the surface layer of the silicon steel by the laser irradiation induced a stress which resulted in a refinement of 180° domain wall spacing. This phenomeno…

Abstract Low‐and high‐density polyethylenes were irradiated by electron beams with dose of 2–50 Mrad and then immersed in aqueous solution of acrylic acid (monomer concentration from 30 to 100 wt %) for 10 min−5 h at a temperature of 25–40°C. The degree of grafting increases with time and levels off. High density poly…
