Origin and effect of In–Sn ordering in InSnCo 3 S 2 : a neutron diffraction and DFT study

Jan Rothballer、Frederik Bachhuber、Stefan Michael Rommel 等 5 位作者2014-01-01RSC Advances

The solid solution In2−xSnxCo3S2 is attractive due to a variety of interesting properties depending on the In/Sn content, i.e. half metal ferromagnetic Sn2Co3S2, low dimensional metal In2Co3S2, and semiconducting thermoelectric InSnCo3S2. For the latter, crystal structure effects and a metal to insulator transition ar…

In this paper we first describe the design and synthesis of two novel cationic functional modifiers, i.e. a functionalized β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) derivative and tris(3-aminophenyl)phenyl phosphine oxide (TAP). Cloisite Na+ (clay-Na) and the modifiers were used for the preparation of the organoclay containing phosphine…

Energy landscapes of planar colloidal clusters

John W. R. Morgan、David J. Wales2014-01-01Nanoscale

A short-ranged pairwise Morse potential is used to model colloidal clusters with planar morphologies. Potential and free energy global minima as well as rearrangement paths, obtained by basin-hopping global optimisation and discrete path sampling, are characterised. The potential and free energy landscapes are visuali…

Novel luminescent yttrium oxide nanosheets doped with Eu3+ and Tb3+

Lin Zhang、Danyu Jiang、Jinfeng Xia 等 6 位作者2014-01-01RSC Advances

Novel single-layer rare-earth oxide nanosheets were obtained by the exfoliation of Y(1−X)REXOBr (RE = Eu/Tb) layer. First, the Br− ions in Y(1−X)REXOBr were exchanged by benzoate ions under microwave conditions. The interlayer benzoate can chelate RE ions in the oxide layer, and change the structure and luminescence p…

Photoluminescence Properties and Energy-Level Analysis of Ga2O3:Tb3+Green Phosphor Prepared by Metal Organic Deposition

Yoshinori Tokida、Sadao Adachi2014-01-01ECS Journal of Solid State Science and Technology

We synthesize Ga 2 O 3 :Tb 3+ green phosphor by metal-organic deposition and report the photoluminescence (PL) properties of this phosphor. The X-ray diffraction analysis indicates that only β -phase Ga 2 O 3 :Tb 3+ can be synthesized by calcination at T c = 700°C. The Tb 3+ -related green emission intensity shows an…

On non-singular GRADELA crack fields

Elias C. Aifantis2014-01-01Theoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters

A brief account is provided on crack-tip solutions that have recently been published in the literature by employing the so-called GRADELA model and its variants. The GRADELA model is a simple gradient elasticity theory involving one internal length in addition to the two Lame' constants, in an effort to eliminate elas…

The solvent effect in an axially symmetric Fe III 4 single-molecule magnet

Yuan‐Yuan Zhu、Tingting Yin、Shang‐Da Jiang 等 12 位作者2014-01-01Chemical Communications

A pair of enantiopure Fe(III)4 SMMs with axial symmetry was synthesized and characterized by magnetization and high-frequency electron paramagnetic resonance methods. The results reveal that the axial symmetry of the structure is broken by the interaction of Fe(III)4 with the disordered solvent molecules.
