硬X線光電子分光(hard X-ray photoemission spectroscopy, HAXPES)は従来の光電子分光に比べて数倍以上大きい分析深さを有する比較的新しい実験手法で,産業応用研究における新しい分析ツールとして近年注目を浴びている.本稿では,まず始めにHAXPESの原理と特徴について,いくつかの利用例とともに概説する.次にSPring-8 BL46XUにて我々が運用している,異なるタイプの電子分光器(VG Scienta R4000-10 keVとFocus HV-CSA 300/15)を装備する,2台の硬X線光電子分光装置について詳細に説明する.SPring-8の利用制度についても簡単に述べる.
