A Mathematical Model for Pseudoelasticity of Shape Memory Alloy and Its Application in Passive Control

Zhi Wei、Haiyun Ma、Dongchang Sun2002-01-01Journal of Vibration and Control

Pseudoelasticity of shape memory alloy (SMA) has attracted great attention in passive vibration control of structures due to its large energy dissipation. In this paper, a first-order differential equation—based versatile model to describe the constitutive relation of the pseudoelasticity of SMA is presented. In this…

The correlation between subsize and full-size Charpy impact properties of reactor pressure vessel steels have been investigated using 1/3 and 1/4 subsize specimens cut from the broken halves of full-size specimens irradiated to 2.7 × 1023 n m-2 (E>lMeV) at 288 °C. We found that ductile-to-brittle transition tem…

PREPARATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF PVAc/MONTMORILLONITE NANOCOMPOSITES INITIATED BY RADIATION POLYMERIZATION

Yunsheng Ding2002-01-01Acta Polymerica Sinica

Much work over the last 10 years has focused on composites that exhibit a change in composition and structure over a nanometer length scale. Layered silicates like montmorillonite(MMT) dispersed as a reinforcing phase in a polymer matrix are one of the most important forms of such organic inorganic nanocomposites to a…

U.S. Operating Experience With Thermally Treated Alloy 600 Steam Generator Tubes

April Smith、Kenneth J. Karwoski2002-01-0110th International Conference on Nuclear Engineering, Volume 1

Steam generators placed in service in the 1960s and 1970s were primarily fabricated from mill-annealed Alloy 600. Over time, this material proved to be susceptible to stress corrosion cracking in the highly pure primary and secondary water chemistry environments of pressurized-water reactors. The corrosion ultimately…

A set of ceramic samples based on silicon carbide with substantially varying integral porosity (from 1 to 10 %) was studied. The pore size distribution was examined by optical microscopy (for pores ranging from 10 mm to hundreds of microns in size), scanning electron microscopy (0.5 - 10 mm), and small-angle X-ray sca…
