Self-Assembly of Amphoteric Azopyridine Carboxylic Acids: Organized Structures and Macroscopic Organized Morphology Influenced by Heat, pH Change, and Light

Ken’ichi Aoki、Masaru Nakagawa、Kunihiro Ichimura2000-10-21Journal of the American Chemical Society

In this paper, we describe the synthesis of novel amphoteric azopyridine carboxylic acids ( 2b, 3a, 3b, 4a, and 4b ), having both a carboxyl group as a hydrogen donor and a pyridyl group as an acceptor at each molecular terminus, and their self-organization, which is markedly affected by external stimuli including hea…

Achim Müller、Christian Beugholt、Paul Kögerler 等 6 位作者2000-10-21Inorganic Chemistry

The novel title compound {NiII4MoV12} demonstrates the concept of generating targeted spin topologies using reduced polyoxometalates: The four electrophilic nickel centersforming a tetrahedronare fixed by a nucleophilic highly reduced diamagnetic ε-Keggin cluster of Td symmetry generated in solution. This cluster not…

Pore Surface Functionalization of MCM-48 Mesoporous Silica with Tungsten and Molybdenum Metal Centers: Perspectives on Catalytic Peroxide Activation

Mark Morey、J. Daniel Bryan、Stephan Schwarz 等 4 位作者2000-10-21Chemistry of Materials

The pore surface of MCM-48 mesoporous silica was functionalized with tungsten and molybdenum metal centers by the anhydrous reaction of metal alkoxides with surface silanol groups. Resulting metal−oxo species were attached via covalent M−O−Si bonds as confirmed with photoacoustic (PAS)-FTIR. Diffuse reflectance UV−vis…

Mechanistic Diversity in a Metalloenzyme Superfamily

Richard N. Armstrong2000-10-21Biochemistry

It is now appreciated that the relationships of proteins, particularly enzymes, within a protein superfamily can be understood not only in terms of their sequence similarities and three-dimensional structures but also by chemical threads that relate their functional attributes. The mechanistic ties among superfamily m…

Protein Interactions with Polyelectrolyte Multilayers: Interactions between Human Serum Albumin and Polystyrene Sulfonate/Polyallylamine Multilayers

Guy Ladam、Csilla Gergely、Bernard Senger 等 7 位作者2000-10-21Biomacromolecules

The interactions between polystyrenesulfonate (PSS)/polyallylamine (PAH) multilayers with human serum albumin (HSA) were investigated by means of scanning angle reflectometry (SAR). We find that albumin adsorbs both on multilayers terminating with PSS (negatively charged) or PAH (positively charged) polyelectrolytes.…

Aharonov-Bohm effect of excitons in nano-rings

Hui Hu、Jia-Lin Zhu、Dai-Jun Li 等 4 位作者2000-10-21arXiv

The magnetic field effects on excitons in an InAs nano-ring are studied theoretically. By numerically diagonalizing the effective-mass Hamiltonian of the problem, which can be separated into terms in centre-of-mass and relative coordinates, we calculate the low-lying exciton energy levels and oscillator strengths as a…

The gamma-subunit of citrate lyase (EC 4.1.3.6) contains the prosthetic group 2'-(5"-phosphoribosyl)-3'-dephospho-CoA and serves as an acyl carrier protein (ACP). We recently showed that in Escherichia coli the proteins CitG and CitX are essential for holo-ACP synthesis and provided evidence that CitG catalyzes the fo…
