Mechanical and dielectric relaxations of epoxide resins containing spiro‐ring structure

Mitsukazu Ochi、Masaki Shimbo、Motoo Saga 等 4 位作者1986-10-01Journal of Polymer Science Part B Polymer Physics

Abstract Low‐temperature relaxation behavior was investigated for a bisphenol‐A and three spiroring type epoxide resins cured with aromatic and spiro‐ring‐type diamines. A new well‐defined relaxation denoted here as the β′ relaxation was observed from 50 to 100°C for the spiro‐ring‐type resin systems in both mechanica…

Tracer diffusion in concentrated colloidal dispersions

W. van Megen、S. M. Underwood、Ian K. Snook1986-10-01The Journal of Chemical Physics

A colloidal tracer system suitable for light scattering experiments has been prepared. The nonaqueous dispersion comprises host and tracer particles of 0.66 μm diameter in which the refractive index of the dispersion medium is adjusted to that of the host particles. Both the host polymer particles and the inorganic tr…

Percolation model for mixed alkali effects in solid ionic conductors

Harald Harder、Armin Bunde、W. Dieterich1986-10-01The Journal of Chemical Physics

We investigate a random walk model for describing mixed alkali effects in ionic conductors of the β-alumina type. In our model, the observed drastic variation in the transport properties of the mixed crystals is related to critical properties near a percolation threshold, which originates from the blocking of conducti…

Unusual magnetic properties of the adduct of copper chloride with 2-phenyl-4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazoline-1-oxyl 3-oxide

J Laugier、P. Rey、Cristiano Benelli 等 5 位作者1986-10-01Journal of the American Chemical Society

A stable adduct was isolated from copper(I1) chloride and the stable free radical 2-phenyl-4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazoline- 1-oxy1 3-oxide. The stoichiometry of the adduct is 1:2, and a crystal structure analysis has shown the copper ion to be four planar coordinated by two chlorine atoms and two oxygen (nitroxyl) atom…

On the Microstructures Resulting from the Diffusionless Cubic→Tetragonal Transformation in ZrO 2 ‐Y 2 O 3 Alloys

V. Lanteri、R. Chaim、A. H. Heuer1986-10-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

A diffusionless cubic (c)→metastable tetragonal (t′) phase transformation occurs in certain alloys in the ZrO 2 ‐Y 2 O 3 system on quenching from elevated temperatures. Microstructural features due to this phase transformation, principally anti‐phase domain boundaries (APB's) and mechanical accommodation twins, have b…

Formation of intermetallic compounds during solidification of dilute Al–Fe–Si alloys

Ping Liu、T. Thorvaldsson、G. L. Dunlop1986-10-01Materials Science and Technology

Dilute Al–Fe–Si alloys with Fe/Si weight ratios of 2 and 4, which had been subjected to solidification rates of ~1 and ~10 Ks−1 were investigated by analytical transmission electron microscopy. The precipitation of ‘constituent’ intermetallic phases was characterized as a function of the Fe/Si ratio, alloy purity, rat…

Mechanism of Strength Degradation for Hot Corrosion of α‐SiC

James L. Smialek、Nathan Jacobson1986-10-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

Sintered α‐SiC was corroded by thin films of Na 2 SO 4 and Na 2 CO 3 molten salts at 1000°C. This hot corrosion attack reduced room‐temperature strengths by as much as 50%. Strength degradation was proportional to the degree and uniformity of corrosion pitting attack as controlled by the chemistry of the molten salt.…

The Heterogeneous Reaction of Ozone on Carbonaceous Surfaces

S. J. Stephens、Michel J. Rossi、David M. Golden1986-10-01International Journal of Chemical Kinetics

Abstract Ozone, O 3 , reacts with a carbon sample at room temperature. Clean carbon samples show a half to one and a half order of magnitude increased initial rate constant ( k 0 ) for O 3 loss relative to repetitively exposed carbon samples. The ozone loss rate and therefore the rate constant reaches steady state ( k…

Both b.c.c. and icosahedral AlCuLi phases coexist following conventional ingot casting. Owing to a slight difference in their composition, they can be distinguished by a Z-contrast technique in a scanning electron microscope. Moreover, the existence of an orientation relationship between the b.c.c. and icosahedral (Al…
