T Wang、Georg K. H. Madsen、Alexander Hartmaier2014-03-14Modelling and Simulation in Materials Science and Engineering

Lattice defects such as vacancies, voids and dislocations are inevitably present in any material of technological interest. In this work, non-equilibrium molecular dynamics simulations are conducted to investigate how the monatomic vacancies and nanovoids influence the lattice thermal conductivity of silicon. The resu…

RESET Distribution Improvement of Phase Change Memory: The Impact of Pre-Programming

Yuchan Wang、Xiao-Gang Chen、Yan Cheng 等 12 位作者2014-03-14IEEE Electron Device Letters

Some nonvolatile phase change memory (PCM) cells with 80-nm heating electrodes are found very difficult to RESET at 3 mA, which directly affects the RESET distribution of the PCM. The large crystal grains with hexagonal structure in the active phase change area, discovered by transmission electron microscope, are the…

Orbital Topology Controlling Charge Injection in Quantum-Dot-Sensitized Solar Cells

Thorsten Hansen、Karel Žídek、Kaibo Zheng 等 7 位作者2014-03-14The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters

Quantum-dot-sensitized solar cells are emerging as a promising development of dye-sensitized solar cells, where photostable semiconductor quantum dots replace molecular dyes. Upon photoexcitation of a quantum dot, an electron is transferred to a high-band-gap metal oxide. Swift electron transfer is crucial to ensure a…

Computational Prediction of Circular Dichroism Spectra and Quantification of Helicity Loss upon Peptide Adsorption on Silica

Robert H. Meißner、Julian Schneider、Peter Schiffels 等 4 位作者2014-03-14Langmuir

Circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy is one of the few experimental techniques sensitive to the structural changes that peptides undergo when they adsorb on inorganic material surfaces, a problem of deep significance in medicine, biotechnology, and materials science. Although the theoretical calculation of the CD spec…

Molecular dynamics simulations of polyelectrolyte brushes under poor solvent conditions: Origins of bundle formation

Gui‐Li He、Holger Merlitz、Jens‐Uwe Sommer2014-03-14The Journal of Chemical Physics

Molecular dynamics simulations are applied to investigate salt-free planar polyelectrolyte brushes under poor solvent conditions. Starting above the Θ-point with a homogeneous brush and then gradually reducing the temperature, the polymers initially display a lateral structure formation, forming vertical bundles of ch…

Dynamic, Nonsink Method for the Simultaneous Determination of Drug Permeability and Binding Coefficients in Liposomes

Kyle D. Fugit、Bradley D. Anderson2014-03-14Molecular Pharmaceutics

Drug release from liposomal formulations is governed by a complex interplay of kinetic (i.e., drug permeability) and thermodynamic factors (i.e., drug partitioning to the bilayer surface). Release studies under sink conditions that attempt to mimic physiological conditions are insufficient to decipher these separate c…

Shijian Yang、Feihong Qi、Yong Liao 等 8 位作者2014-03-14Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research

The sulfation showed a dual effect on the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) reaction over MnO x /TiO 2 . The activation of adsorbed NH 3 and the adsorption of NO x on MnO x /TiO 2 were both restrained after the sulfation. Therefore, the SCR reaction through the Eley–Rideal mechanism and that through the Langmuir–Hin…
