Water-Soluble Iron Porphyrin Complex-Catalyzed Epoxidation of Olefins with Hydrogen Peroxide and tert-Butyl Hydroperoxide in Aqueous Solution

Sook Jung Yang、Wonwoo Nam1998-02-05Inorganic Chemistry

Catalytic epoxidation of olefins with H2O2 and t-BuOOH has been studied in the presence of a water-soluble iron(III) porphyrin complex, (5,10,15,20-tetrakis(2,6-dichloro-3-sulfonatophenyl)porphinato)iron(III) [Fe(TDCPPS)], in buffered aqueous solutions. Epoxides are the predominant products at low pH values, and the f…

Takuya Nakanishi、Bunsho Ohtani、Kohei Uosaki1998-02-05The Journal of Physical Chemistry B

Mono- and multilayers of cadmium sulfide (CdS) nanoparticles were fabricated on a gold substrate covered with alkanedithiol self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) by an alternate immersion of the substrate into ethanolic solutions of dithiol, i.e., 1,6-hexanedithiol or 1,10-decanedithiol, and dispersion of CdS nanoparticles…

Temperature Dependence of Cation Distribution and Oxidation State in Magnetic Mn−Fe Ferrite Nanocrystals

Z. John Zhang、Zhong Lin Wang、Bryan C. Chakoumakos 等 4 位作者1998-02-05OpenAlex

The magnetic properties of spinel nanoparticles are determined by crystal chemistry issues such as cation distribution and oxidation states. The cation distribution and oxidation state of Mn−Fe spinel nanoparticles have been systematically studied at various temperatures by using neutron diffraction and electron energ…

Three different types of polynuclear Mn II complexes with carboxylate bridges were obtained from the reaction of Mn(RCOO) 2 with 2,2‘-bipyridine (bpy). Dinuclear complexes [Mn 2 (μ-RCOO) 2 (bpy) 4 ](ClO 4 ) 2 with R = 2-ClPh, 3-ClPh, 4-ClPh, Ph ( 1 − 4 ); trinuclear complexes [Mn 3 (μ-RCOO) 6 (bpy) 2 ] with R = 2-ClPh…

Intercalation of Polyvalent Cations into V2O5 Aerogels

D. B. Le、Stefano Passerini、Fabrice Coustier 等 7 位作者1998-02-04Chemistry of Materials

The polyvalent cations Mg2+, Zn2+, and Al3+ were intercalated into V2O5 aerogel to a maximum concentration of 4, 2.5, and 3.33 equiv, respectively, per mole of V2O5. The intercalation was reversible in each case, analogous to the intercalation of Li+ ions. Pillaring of the host facilitates the intercalation process.

Direct Imaging of Submicron Scale Defect-induced Birefringence in SrTiO$_{3}$ Bicrystals

E. B. McDaniel、J. W. P. Hsu1998-02-04arXiv

Using a near-field scanning optical microscope capable of quantitative polarimetry, we map the anisotropic strain fields associated with individual submicron defects near the fusion boundaries of SrTiO$_{3}$ bicrystals. Many defects exhibit unexpected spiral-shape strain patterns, whose handedness is believed to be li…

J- and H-Aggregates of Porphyrin−Surfactant Complexes: Time-Resolved Fluorescence and Other Spectroscopic Studies

Nakul C. Maiti、Shyamalava Mazumdar、N. Periasamy1998-02-04OpenAlex

The interactions of several water-soluble ionic porphyrins with different ionic or neutral surfactants in aqueous solutions were studied as a function of surfactant concentration. The interaction leads to the formation of porphyrin aggregates and/or micelle-encapsulated monomers with the exception of those porphyrin−s…

Novel Double-Stranded Chains vs Two-Layer Interwoven Sheets. Subtle Coligand Effects and Related Properties for [Co(Py2S)2X2]n (Py2S = 4,4‘-Dipyridyl Sulfide; X = NCS, Cl)

A study of striking structural differences in the magic angle of Py2S and coligand effects has been carried out. [Co(Py2S)2Cl2]n is the first integral two-layer interwoven sheet without any counterion or solvate whereas [Co(Py2S)2(NCS)2]n affords a double-stranded linear infinite structure. Kinetic roughening and phase ordering in the two-component growth model

M. Kotrla、M. Predota、F. Slanina1998-02-03arXiv

Interplay between kinetic roughening and phase ordering is studied in a growth SOS model with two kinds of particles and Ising-like interaction by Monte Carlo simulations. We found that, for a sufficiently large coupling, growth is strongly affected by interaction between species. Surface roughness increases rapidly w…

Enhancement of Surface Hardness: Boron on Diamond (111)

Seungwu Han、Jisoon Ihm、Steven G. Louie 等 4 位作者1998-02-02Physical Review Letters

We have performed ab initio pseudopotential calculations for the diamond (111) surface with nitrogen or boron replacing the surface carbon atoms. Surface boron atoms form planar ${\mathrm{sp}}^{2}$ bonds with carbon atoms and the compressive stress from the underlying bulk diamond lattice squeezes the B-C bonds signif…

From Molecular to One-Dimensional Polychalcogenides: Preparation, Structure, and Reactivity of NaNbS6, the First Ternary Alkali Metal Niobium Polychalcogenide Exhibiting Infinite Anionic Chains

Wolfgang Bensch、Christian Näther、Peter Dürichen1998-02-02Angewandte Chemie International Edition

A reactive sodium polysulfide melt provides the one-dimensional compound NaNbS6 at 350°C. It contains anionic chains of condensed NbS9 polyhedra that are separated by Na+ ions (see picture below). NaNbS6 decomposes at about 400°C and transforms into the layered intercalation compound NaNbS2.

Numerical investigation of electronic wave functions in quasiperiodic lattices

Thomas Rieth、Michael Schreiber1998-02-02Journal of Physics Condensed Matter

We study the electronic eigenstates on two- and three-dimensional quasiperiodic lattices using a tight-binding Hamiltonian in the vertex model. In particular, we analyse how a quasiperiodic lattice influences the decay form and the self-similar structure of the wave functions. The investigation of the earlier-suggeste…

Preparation of Lithium Oligosiloxane Aluminates and Acid Strength of Hydroxy Groups in a Molecular Aluminum Oligosiloxane

Michael Veith、Maria Jarczyk、Volker Hüch1998-02-02Angewandte Chemie International Edition

The Loewenstein rule, according to which the AlO4 tetrahedra in aluminum silicates should always be separated by silicon atoms, is apparently not valid for molecular aluminum silicates such as 2, because the linkage of the AlO4 tetrahedra does not change when the four acidic protons of 1 are replaced by lithium atoms.
