Encapsulation of Carbon Nanotubes by Self-Assembling Peptide Amphiphiles

Michael S. Arnold、Mustafa O. Güler、Mark C. Hersam 等 4 位作者2005-03-25Langmuir

We demonstrate the dispersion and noncovalent functionalization of carbon nanotubes in water using peptide amphiphiles each consisting of a short hydrophobic alkyl tail coupled to a more hydrophilic peptide sequence. The assembly of peptide amphiphile molecules on the surfaces of carbon nanotubes adds biofunctionality…

Manuel Querol、John W. Chen、Ralph Weissleder 等 4 位作者2005-03-25Organic Letters

[reaction: see text] The synthesis and some properties of two novel DTPA-bisamides are reported. These derivatives were designed as enzyme-activated contrast agents (CA) for magnetic resonance imaging. Both derivatives bear tyramido or 5-hydroxytryptamido groups that could be oligomerized in situ in the presence of pe…

Observation of Metastable and Stable Energy Levels of EL2 in Semi-insulating GaAs

D. Kabiraj、Subhasis Ghosh2005-03-25arXiv

By using combination of detailed experimental studies, we identify the metastable and stable energy levels of EL2 in semi-insulating GaAs. These results are discussed in the light of the recently proposed models for stable and metastable configurations of EL2 in GaAs.

Fabrication of single nickel-nitrogen defects in diamond by chemical vapor deposition

J. R. Rabeau、Y. L. Chin、S. Prawer 等 6 位作者2005-03-25Applied Physics Letters

Fabrication of single nickel-nitrogen (NE8) defect centers in diamond by chemical vapor deposition is demonstrated. Under continuous-wave 745nm laser excitation single defects were induced to emit single photon pulses at 797nm with a linewidth of 1.5nm at room temperature. Photon antibunching of single centers was dem…

Functionalized Single Wall Carbon Nanotubes Treated with Pyrrole for Electrochemical Supercapacitor Membranes

Chongfu Zhou、Satish Kumar、Condell D. Doyle 等 4 位作者2005-03-25Chemistry of Materials

Supercapacitor electrodes based on pyrrole treated-functionalized single wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) were developed. High values of capacitance (350 F/g), power density (4.8 kW/kg), and energy density (3.3 kJ/kg) were obtained in 6 M KOH, and the capacitance is almost 7 times that of the control buckypaper. Specific…

Simulation method to resolve hydrodynamic interactions in colloidal dispersions

Yasuya Nakayama、Ryōichi Yamamoto2005-03-25Physical Review E

A computational method is presented to resolve hydrodynamic interactions acting on solid particles immersed in incompressible host fluids. In this method, boundaries between solid particles and host fluids are replaced with a continuous interface by assuming a smoothed profile. This enabled us to calculate hydrodynami…

Proton and Electron Conductivity in Hydrous Ruthenium Oxides Evaluated by Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy: The Origin of Large Capacitance

Wataru Sugimoto、Hideki Iwata、Katsunori Yokoshima 等 5 位作者2005-03-25OpenAlex

Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy was conducted on a series of hydrous ruthenium oxides, RuO(2).xH(2)O, (x = 0.5, 0.3, 0) and a layered ruthenic acid hydrate (H(0.2)RuO(2.1).nH(2)O) in order to evaluate their protonic and electronic conduction. The capacitor response frequency was observed at lower frequency for…

Phase Equilibrium of the In2O3−TiO2−MO (M = Ca, Sr) Systems and the Structure of In6Ti6CaO22

Zhaofei Li、Junliang Sun、Liping You 等 8 位作者2005-03-24Chemistry of Materials

The phase relationships of the In 2 O 3 −TiO 2 −CaO and In 2 O 3 −TiO 2 −SrO systems have been studied at 1350 °C in air. The In 2 O 3 −TiO 2 −CaO system contains a ternary compound Ti 6 In 6 CaO 22 crystallizing in an incommensurate structure. The In 2 O 3 −TiO 2 −SrO system, on the other hand, is a simple ternary ph…

Abstract Summary: A foaming apparatus for gas treatment is proposed. Despite a small amount of required liquid, the foaming column can be used not only for polluted gas treatment, but also for a specific type of water and for wastewater purification. In general, the electrical discharge may be applied directly to the…

Structure of CDP-D-glucose 4,6-dehydratase fromSalmonella typhicomplexed with CDP-D-xylose

Nicole M. Koropatkin、Hazel M. Holden2005-03-24Acta Crystallographica Section D Biological Crystallography

Tyvelose is a unique 3,6-dideoxyhexose found in the O antigens of some pathogenic species of Yersinia and Salmonella. It is produced via a complex biochemical pathway that employs CDP-D-glucose as the starting ligand. CDP-D-glucose 4,6-dehydratase catalyzes the first irreversible step in the synthesis of this 3,6-dide…

Glassy behavior of a percolative water-protein system

Sara Pagnotta、R. Gargana、Fabio Bruni 等 4 位作者2005-03-24Physical Review E

We show that is possible to look at the glass transition as a percolation transition in phase space. This study has been carried out on a hydrated globular enzyme for which the thermodynamic transition and the percolative transition could have a functional significance. The approach adopted is based on the identity of…

Prasanth P. Jose、Dwaipayan Chakrabarti、Biman Bagchi2005-03-24Physical Review E

Dynamical heterogeneity in a system of Gay-Berne ellipsoids near its isotropic-nematic (I-N) transition, and also in an equimolar mixture of Lennard-Jones spheres and Gay-Berne ellipsoids in deeply supercooled regime, is probed by the time evolution of non-Gaussian parameters (NGP). The appearance of a dominant second…

The Internal Dynamic Modes of Charged Self-Assembled Peptide Fibrils

L. Carrick、Manlio Tassieri、Thomas Andrew Waigh 等 9 位作者2005-03-24Langmuir

Photon correlation spectroscopy is used to study the internal dynamics of self-assembled charged peptide fibrils. Short neutral and charged polymeric aggregates have diffusive modes due to whole macromolecular motion. For long semiflexible fibrils the logarithm of the intermediate scattering function follows a q(2)t(3…
