Nanosecond laser-induced transient and permanent gratings and ultrasonic waves in a smectic film

I. C. Khoo、R. Normandin1984-03-01Journal of Applied Physics

Using nanosecond laser pulses, we have observed for the first time optically induced transient and (erasable) permanent gratings in a smectic-A film. The transient grating is accompanied by strong high frequency acoustic waves.

Structural Study of the Ferroelectric Phase Transition in Ca2Sr(C2H5CO2)6

Naoyuki Mishima1984-03-01Journal of the Physical Society of Japan

Crystal structures of Ca 2 Sr(C 2 H 5 CO 2 ) 6 at sixteen temperatures between -160°C and 150°C have been determined accurately, using an X-ray four circle diffractometer. The occupancies of the three disordered methyl groups in a formula unit, together with the displacements of Sr, Ca and O atoms, vary with temperatu…

The structural behaviour of tetrahedral framework compounds — a review Part II. Framework structures

Diana Taylor1984-03-01Mineralogical Magazine

Abstract Tetrahedral framework compounds, as defined in this paper, generally exist as tilted and distorted versions of ideal fully expanded structures at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. How pressure, temperature, and composition ( P, T , and X ) affect the tilting and distortion is critically reviewed. It…

Reduction Potentials: Key to Doping Phenomena In Polyacetylene, (Ch)X

Alan G. MacDiarmid、Robert J. Mammone、Joanna Krawczyk 等 4 位作者1984-03-01Molecular crystals and liquid crystals

When (CH)X is p-doped (oxidized) or n-doped (reduced) chemically or electrochemically the “dopant” ion may or may not be derived from the oxidizing or reducing agent as dictated by the nature of the specific doping reaction involved. The reduction potentials of neutral (CH)X and its various oxidized or reduced states…

A differential thermal analysis (DTA) for the heats of reaction and temperature rises produced during the setting of tooth coloured restorative materials

C.H. Lloyd1984-03-01Journal of Oral Rehabilitation

Differential thermal analysis (DTA) has been used to obtain the temperature rises produced during the setting of a range of tooth coloured restorative materials, which included silicates, glass ionomers and composites. These have been compared on the basis of the temperature rise per unit volume of material. Calibrati…
