S. Lalitha、S. Zh. Karazhanov、P. Ravindran 等 6 位作者2006-08-05arXiv

Thin films of CdTe were deposited on glass substrates by thermal evaporation. From the XRD measurements itis found that the films are of zinc-blende-type structure. Transmittance, absorption, extinction, and refractive coefficients are measured. Electronic structure, band parameters and optical spectra of CdTe were ca…

Molecular Dynamics Simulation of Sputtering Process of Hydrogen and Graphene Sheets

HIROAKI NAKAMURA、ATSUSHI ITO2006-08-05arXiv

To clarify the yielding mechanism of small hydrocarbon molecules in chemical sputtering between hydrogen and graphene sheets, we made classical molecular dynamics simulation with modified Brenner's REBO potential which we proposed to deal with chemical reaction. As the simulation model, we prepared more realistic phys…

Theoretical analysis of polydispersity in the nematic phase of self-assembled semiflexible chains

Xinjiang Lü、James T. Kindt2006-08-04The Journal of Chemical Physics

In recent simulations of semiflexible equilibrium polymers [X. Lu and J. T. Kindt, J. Chem. Phys. 120, 10328 (2004)] a roughly biexponential distribution of chain lengths was observed in the nematic phase. In this study, we show that a theory representing the nematic phase as an equilibrium mixture of randomly oriente…

Resonance of curved nanowires

L. Calabri、Nicola M. Pugno、Weiqiang Ding 等 4 位作者2006-08-04Journal of Physics Condensed Matter

The effects of non-ideal experimental configuration on the mechanical resonance of boron (B) nanowires (NWs) were studied to obtain the corrected value for the Young’s modulus. The following effects have been theoretically considered: (i) the presence of intrinsic curvature, (ii) non-ideal clamps, (iii) spurious masse…

Storing and Releasing Hydrogen with a Redox Switch

S.K. Brayshaw、Jennifer C. Green、Nilay Hazari 等 7 位作者2006-08-04Angewandte Chemie International Edition

Give and take: A molecular cluster that readily takes up and stores two molecules of H2 also rapidly releases (milliseconds) the stored H2 by a simple redox process. This process represents a new method of hydrogen storage and release from a well-defined molecular material.

Production of Cu2O nanoparticles in SiO2by ion implantation and two-step annealing at different oxygen pressures

H. Amekura、О.А. Plaksin、K. Kono 等 5 位作者2006-08-04Journal of Physics D Applied Physics

Two different methods were applied to fabricate cuprous-oxide (Cu 2 O) nanoparticles (NPs) in silica glasses (SiO 2 ), namely (i) low oxygen-pressure (LOP) oxidation of Cu NPs, which had previously been formed in SiO 2 by implantation of Cu ions and (ii) two-step annealing of Cu NPs in atmospheric-pressure oxygen gas…

Shiming Hong、X R Liu、Su Liu 等 5 位作者2006-08-04Journal of Physics D Applied Physics

Melts of poly(ethylene terephthalate) were solidified by rapid compression to 2 GPa within 20 ms and by a series of comparative processes including natural cooling, slow compressing and rapid cooling, respectively. By combining XRD and differential scanning calorimetry data of the recovered samples, it is made clear t…

Suppression of electron–electron repulsion and superconductivity in ultra-small carbon nanotubes

Stefano Bellucci、Michele Cini、Pasquale Onorato 等 4 位作者2006-08-04Journal of Physics Condensed Matter

Recently, ultra-small diameter single wall nanotubes with diameter of ∼0.4 nm have been produced and many unusual properties were observed, such as superconductivity, leading to a transition temperature T c ∼15 K, much larger than that observed in the bundles of larger diameter tubes. By a comparison between two diffe…

Boris Tsukerblat、Alex Tarantul、Achim Müller2006-08-04The Journal of Chemical Physics

The low temperature EPR spectra of the unique nanometer-scale molecular magnet V(15) are analyzed within the three-spin model preserving trigonal symmetry. The Hamiltonian includes isotropic and antisymmetric (AS) exchange interactions introduced by Dzyaloshinsky (Zh. Eksp. Teor. Fiz. 32, 1547 (1957) [Sov. Phys. JETP…

The neutralization of low energy 7Li+ scattered from Au nanoclusters deposited on TiO2(110) was measured with time-of-flight spectroscopy as a function of cluster size, emission angle, and ion energy. The neutralization shows maxima for cluster diameters approximately 3 nm, and again for thick Au films. The data are c…

Solidity of viscous liquids. IV. Density fluctuations

Jeppe C. Dyre2006-08-04Physical Review E

This paper is the fourth in a series exploring the physical consequences of the solidity of highly viscous liquids. It is argued that the two basic characteristics of a flow event (a jump between two energy minima in configuration space) are the local density change and the sum of all particle displacements. Based on…
