General model for mechanical stress evolution during electromigration

М. Е. Сарычев、Yu. V. Zhitnikov、L. Borucki 等 5 位作者1999-09-15Journal of Applied Physics

A model is presented for the development of stress during electromigration. Formally similar to a thermal stress model, it provides a method of calculating all of the components of the stress tensor and clearly couples vacancy transport and stress evolution with the boundary conditions that apply to the metal. Analyti…

Spin dependent scattering of a domain-wall of controlled size

J. -E. Wegrowe、A. Comment、Y. Jaccard 等 6 位作者1999-09-15arXiv

Magnetoresistance measurements in the CPP geometry have been performed on single electrodeposited Co nanowires exchange biased on one side by a sputtered amorphous GdCo layer. This geometry allows the stabilization of a single domain wall in the Co wire, the thickness of which can be controlled by an external magnetic…

van der Waals interaction in nanotube bundles: Consequences on vibrational modes

Luc Henrard、Eduardo Hernández、P. Bernier 等 4 位作者1999-09-15Physical review. B, Condensed matter

We have developed a pair-potential approach for the evaluation of van der Waals interaction between carbon nanotubes in bundles. Starting from a continuum model, we show that the intertube modes range from 5 ${\mathrm{cm}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ to 60 ${\mathrm{cm}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}.$ Using a nonorthogonal tight-binding…

Transition from the adiabatic to the sudden limit in core-level photoemission: A model study of a localized system

J. D. Lee、O. Gunnarsson、Lars Hedin1999-09-15Physical review. B, Condensed matter

We consider core electron photoemission in a localized system, where there is a charge transfer excitation. Examples are transition metal and rare earth compounds, chemisorption systems, and high-${T}_{c}$ compounds. The system is modeled by three electron levels, one core level, and two outer levels. In the initital…

Model for optical absorption in porous silicon

Shouvik Datta、K. L. Narasimhan1999-09-15Physical review. B, Condensed matter

In this paper we analyze the optical absorption in porous silicon. This is the first attempt to explicitly demonstrate that it is not possible to extract the band gap of low-dimensional nanostructures like porous silicon from a Tauc plot of $\sqrt{\ensuremath{\alpha}\ensuremath{\Elzxh}\ensuremath{\omega}}$ vs \ensurem…

This paper reports two fundamental observations on the size-dependent optical properties of colloidal gold nanoparticles. First, faceted gold nanocrystals in the size range of 63 ± 3 nm have been found to be highly efficient for surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). These nanocrystals are identified from a heterog…

Electronic transport in extended systems: Application to carbon nanotubes

Marco Buongiorno Nardelli1999-09-15OpenAlex

We present an efficient approach to describe the electronic transport properties of extended systems. The method is based on the surface Green's function matching formalism and combines the iterative calculation of transfer matrices with the Landauer formula for the coherent conductance. The scheme is applicable to an…

Reinforcement of Poly(dimethylsiloxane) Elastomers by Chain-End Anchoring to Clay Particles

Hiroki Takeuchi、Claude Cohen1999-09-14Macromolecules

Difunctional hydroxyl-terminated and vinyl-terminated poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) precursors with similar molecular weight distributions were used to synthesize end-linked networks in bulk with appropriate tetrafunctional cross-linkers. Composite PDMS elastomers from the same precursors were also synthesized with lo…

Anomalous temperature behavior of resistivity in lightly doped manganites around a metal-insulator phase transition

S. Sergeenkov、M. Ausloos、H. Bougrine 等 5 位作者1999-09-14arXiv

An unusual temperature and concentration behavior of resistivity in $La_{0.7}Ca_{0.3}Mn_{1-x}Cu_xO_3$ has been observed at slight $Cu$ doping ($0\leq x \leq 0.05$). Namely, introduction of copper results in a splitting of the resistivity maximum around a metal-insulator transition temperature $T_0(x)$ into two differe…

Two kinds of cobalt-iron cyanides (Rb(0.66)Co(1.25)[Fe(CN)(6)].4.3H(2)O and Co(1.5)[Fe(CN)(6)].6H(2)O) with different electronic structures have been investigated to understand the photoinduced long-range magnetic ordering. Rb(0.66)Co(1.25)[Fe(CN)(6)].4.3H(2)O produces a photomagnetic effect, whereas Co(1.5)[Fe(CN)(6)…
