Small Molecular Gelling Agents to Harden Organic Liquids: Trialkyl cis-1,3,5-Cyclohexanetricarboxamides

Kenji Hanabusa、Atsushi Kawakami、Mutsumi Kimura 等 4 位作者1997-03-01Chemistry Letters

Abstract Trialkyl cis-1,3,5-cyclohexanetricarboxamides were able to cause physical gelation in organic liquids to afford completely transparent organogel. The main driving force for gelation was intermolecular hydrogen bonding between amides and van der Waals interaction among hydrophobic alkyl chains.

Raman Studies on the Identification of Isopolymolybdates in Aqueous Solution

Sadayuki Himeno、Hirotaka Niiya、Tadaharu Ueda1997-03-01Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan

Abstract Molybdenum(VI) solutions were investigated in detail by Raman spectroscopy with a view to establishing the speciation of the predominant polynuclear species (isopolymolybdates) formed in aqueous solution. The most intense Raman frequencies due to asymmetric stretching vibration of Mo=O were very sensitive to…

Phosphorylation of Protein Kinase Cδ (PKCδ) at Threonine 505 Is Not a Prerequisite for Enzymatic Activity

Luise Stempka、Andreas Girod、Hans‐Joachim Müller 等 7 位作者1997-03-01Journal of Biological Chemistry

A structural feature shared by many protein kinases is the requirement for phosphorylation of threonine or tyrosine in the so-called activation loop for full enzyme activity. Previous studies by several groups have indicated that the isotypes alpha, betaI, and betaII of protein kinase C (PKC) are synthesized as inacti…

New Survey of Electron Impact Cross Sections for Photoelectron and Auroral Electron Energy Loss Calculations

T. Majeed、D. J. Strickland1997-03-01Journal of Physical and Chemical Reference Data

Newly surveyed sets of energy loss cross sections are presented for N2, O2, and O. The work was motivated by a number of new electron energy loss measurements in the late 1980s and early 1990s and recent selected review articles. Each set includes a total ionization cross section and excitation cross sections that cor…

Relation of crystalline structure and mechanical properties of nucleated polypropylene

Béla Pukánszky、István Mudra、Peter Staniek1997-03-01Journal of Vinyl and Additive Technology

Abstract Four heterogeneous nucleating agents were added to polypropylene (PP) homoblock and random copolymers. Melting and crystallization of the polymers were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and characteristics derived from the crystallization exotherms were related to the mechanical properties o…

Scatterometry, the analysis of light diffraction from periodic structures, is shown to be a versatile metrology technique applicable to a number of processes involved in the production of microelectronic devices. We have demonstrated that the scatterometer measurement technique is robust to changes in the thickness of…

Influence of Short Glass Fiber Addition on the Mechanical Properties of Sisal Reinforced Low Density Polyethylene Composites

G. Kalaprasad、Kuruvilla Joseph、Sabu Thomas1997-03-01Journal of Composite Materials

This paper presents the evaluation of enhancement in the mechanical properties of short sisal fiber reinforced polyethylene composites by the incorporation of short glass fiber as an intimate mix with sisal. Intimately mixed short glass-sisal hybrid fiber reinforced polyethylene composites (GSRP) were prepared by solu…

The Subcellular Localization of Zn(ll) Phthalocyanines and Their Redistribution on Exposure to Light

Simon Wood、J. Andrew Holroyd、Stanley B. Brown1997-03-01Photochemistry and Photobiology

The development of second-generation photosensitizers to improve photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an area of extensive research. Three such compounds that have been synthesized in our group are polysubstituted Zn(II) phthalocyanines that differ in their overall net charge (one cationic, one anionic and one neutral). The…

Bjerknes force threshold for stable single bubble sonoluminescence

Iskander Akhatov、Robert Mettin、Claus‐Dieter Ohl 等 5 位作者1997-03-01Physical review. E, Statistical physics, plasmas, fluids, and related interdisciplinary topics

An investigation of the primary Bjerknes force acting on a bubble in a strong acoustic field is presented. The approach takes into account the nonlinear resonancelike response of small bubbles to strong acoustic pressure amplitudes. It is shown that for high pressure amplitudes even very small bubbles are repelled fro…

Monoclinic‐to‐Tetragonal Phase Transformation in a Ceramic Rare‐Earth Orthoniobate, LaNbO 4

Li Jian、C.M. Wayman1997-03-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

The monoclinic‐to‐tetragonal phase transformation in LaNbO 4 has been investigated by X‐ray diffraction and dilatometry. Based on the experimental results and theoretical concerns (Landau theory and thermodynamics), it is suggested that this transformation is second order in nature.

The relationship between intramolecular hydrogen bonds and certain physical properties of regioselectively substituted cellulose derivatives

Tetsuo Kondo1997-03-01Journal of Polymer Science Part B Polymer Physics

This article tries to provide some direct evidence about the relationship between the intramolecular hydrogen bonds in cellulose and their corresponding effect on physical properties. The formation of intramolecular hydrogen bonds has been proved to contribute directly to certain physical properties of cellulose, such…
