Toughening by Monoclinic Zirconia

H. RUF、A.G. Evans1983-05-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

The toughening induced by monoclinic ZrO 2 in the absence of microcracking was investigated, using ZnO as the host material. Toughness levels K c in excess of the host toughness K c M were achieved, attaining a peak toughness K c /K c M ∼1.7, at monoclinic ZrO 2 volume concentrations 0.2. This toughening is attributed…

Hydrogen Permeability and Diffusivity in Nickel and Ni-Base Alloys

R. M. Latanision、Minna Kurkela1983-05-01CORROSION

Electrochemical hydrogen permeation experiments were performed on polycrystalline nickel and nickel-base alloys in order to study the factors affecting the entry and transport of hydrogen in such materials. The diffusivity of hydrogen is found to be dependent upon alloy composition, prior cold work, and the concentrat…

IR-spectroscopic study of isotope effects on the NH/ND-stretching bands of meso-tetraphenylporphine and vibrational hydrogen tunneling

Hans‐Heinrich Limbach、Jürgen Hennig、Josef Stulz1983-05-01The Journal of Chemical Physics

The IR spectra of meso-tetraphenylporphine (TPP) dissolved in CCl4 have been measured in the NH and ND stretching band region as a function of isotopic substitution using a newly constructed vacuum IR cell. Thus, it was possible for the first time to localize the NH and ND stretching bands of TPP–HD, which are charact…

Nonlinear elasticity in proper ferroelastics

P. Tolédano、M. M. Fejer、B. A. Auld1983-05-01Physical review. B, Condensed matter

Nonlinear elasticity in proper ferroelastics is investigated using the Landau theory of phase transitions. In proper ferroelastics, where certain combinations of strain components ${e}_{s}$ correspond to the order parameter, coefficients in the Landau free energy are found to coincide with special combinations of elas…

Polyazulene, A Member of a New Class of Polymers

Joachim Bargon、Shamsher Mohmand、R. J. Waltman1983-05-01Molecular crystals and liquid crystals

Electrochemical oxidation of azulene in acetonitrile containing an appropriate electrolyte yields thick, electrically conducting polymeric films. Free-standing films of polyazulene peeled off a platinum electrode have electrical conductivities [sgrave]=10−2 to 1/Ω·cm, depending on the counter-anion, with perchlorate o…

Structure of ribonuclease A: results of joint neutron and x-ray refinement at 2.0-.ANG. resolution

Alexander Wlodawer、Lennart Sjoelin1983-05-01Biochemistry

The structure of ribonuclease A has been refined jointly with the neutron and X-ray data extending to 2.0 A. The results of an earlier X-ray refinement provided the starting model [Wlodawer, A., Bott, R., & Sjölin, L. (1982) J. Biol. Chem. 257, 1325-1332]. The final R factors were 0.159 (X-ray) and 0.183 (neutron) for…

钾芒硝的实验研究

蔚田 韩1983-05-01Chinese Science Bulletin (Chinese Version)

Tavenas1983-05-01Canadian Geotechnical Journal

The clays of Eastern Canada, and in particular the Saint-Jean-Vianney clay in the Saguenay region, have often been described as clays with a preconsolidation due partly to cementation. In order to check this assumption, the geological history and the geomorphology of the Saguenay region have been analyzed. Further to…
