Hardwood and softwood fibers from high-temperature defibration (171-202°C) were treated with Fenton's reagent (H 2 O 2 -FeSO 4 ) or gamma-irradiated. The persistent radicals formed were quantified by ESR-spectrometry. A large increase in the fiber free radical content was obtained by H 2 O 2 -FeSO 4 treatment with H 2…

Examination of Crystal Orientation in Green Compact and Sintered Nd-Fe-B Magnets by X-ray Diffraction.

Shigeru Takaki、Ken Makita、Atsuki Okamoto2003-01-01Journal of the Japan Society of Powder and Powder Metallurgy

In order to investigate the texture formation of Nd-Fe-B system sintered magnet, 006 Miller indices pole figures of (Nd⋅Dy)2Fe14B phase were measured for as-compacted sample and for as-sintered one by X-ray diffraction. The degree of preferred orientation P was estimated by the integration of the product between the n…

Can we learn from failure? Examining US experiences with nuclear repository siting

William R. Freudenburg2003-01-01Journal of Risk Research

The United States may well have spent more money in the effort to develop nuclear waste sites than any other nation on earth, but save for the case of a facility in New Mexico that handles only military wastes, every single effort to site a new repository in the last several decades has ended in failure.Given that the…
