Some aspects of plasma polymerization of fluorine‐containing organic compounds

Hajime Yasuda、Tze‐Gang Hsu1977-10-01Journal of Polymer Science Polymer Chemistry Edition

Abstract The polymerization of perfluorocarbons and fluorohydrocarbons was investigated by using both continuous and pulsed rf discharge (100 μsec on and 900 μsec off). Plasma polymerization of perfluorocarbons is generally slower than that of hydrocarbons, which seems to be due to the absence of contribution of fluor…

The temperature drop in glassy polymers during deformation

Shunsuke Matsuoka、H. E. Bair1977-10-01Journal of Applied Physics

Mechanical relaxation time in polymeric glass has been previously shown to shift to shorter times under tensile strain, and this phenomenon has been attributed to the increase in free volume accompanying the deformation. To be consistent with this concept, the excess enthalpy associated with free volume must also incr…

Parametric energy level analysis of Ho3+: LaCl3

H. M. Crosswhite、Hannah Crosswhite、Norman M. Edelstein 等 4 位作者1977-10-01The Journal of Chemical Physics

A 20-parameter least-squares fit to the levels of Ho3+:LaCl3 observed by Dieke and Pandey has been obtained. The results are in substantial agreement with their assignments and with the subsequent analysis of Rajnak and Krupke. A considerably more extensive atomic Hamiltonian was used, including operators for two- and…

Frenkel pair recombination radius in copper as a function of temperature

R. Lennartz、F. Dworschak、H. Wollenberger1977-10-01Journal of Physics F Metal Physics

Damage rate data for pure Cu and dilute Cu alloys with Au, Be, Pd and Sb measured between 50K and 107K under 3 MeV electron irradiation have been evaluated with regard to the correlated recombination. By applying the diffusion theory of a three-dimensionally migrating interstitial to the results, the temperature-depen…

Profile analysis of X-ray powder diffractometer data: structural refinement of La0.75Sr0.25CrO3

C. P. Khattak、D. E. Cox1977-10-01Journal of Applied Crystallography

Data have been collected from a standard silicon sample with Cu Kβ radiation selected by means of a pyrolytic graphite monochromator mounted in the scattered beam. The peak shapes can be described reasonably well by Lorentz-type functions, but not by a Gaussian function. These results have been applied to the profile…

Color in "tungsten trioxide" thin films

Patrice Gérard、A. Deneuville、G. Hollinger 等 4 位作者1977-10-01Journal of Applied Physics

We show that evaporated tungsten trioxide amorphous layers commonly used in electrochromic displays actually have the composition WO2.7Hy (0.2<y<0.5). We emphasize that coloration of virgin transparent films can be obtained without injection of any external ion into the layer, and further that around a c…

Characterization of nuclei in in vitro collagen fibril formation

Wayne D. Comper、Arthur Veis1977-10-01Biopolymers

Abstract Heat precipitation fibril formation in collagen solutions depends upon the prior thermal history of the solution. Collagen solutions were heat precipitated to various extents at 30°C, cooled, and then brought to a second precipitation. Kinetic analysis of the secondary precipitation demonstrated that only the…

Orbital interaction in one-dimensional magnetic compounds

Jean‐Jacques Girerd、Marie‐France Charlot、Olivier Kahn1977-10-01Molecular Physics

Exchange interaction in ring chains of N transition ions with n unpaired electrons per ion is investigated. The study is focused on the case where N becomes very great, i.e. on the case of one-dimensional magnetic compounds. The main results are the following: (i) An orbital justification to the use of the phenomenolo…

Magnetoelastic properties ofRZnequiatomic compounds

P. Morin、Jean-Marie Rouchy、É. du Trémolet de Lacheisserie1977-10-01Physical review. B, Solid state

The magnetoelastic properties of the ferromagnetic cubic compounds of heavy rare earths with zinc ($R\mathrm{Zn}$) are investigated. Lattice distortions occuring below the ordering point are particularly strong when tetragonal: For instance, DyZn exhibits at low temperature a spontaneous tetragonal strain expressed as…

I.C. McNeill、L.J. Ackerman、Sanjay Gupta 等 5 位作者1977-10-01Journal of Polymer Science Polymer Chemistry Edition

Abstract In the subambient thermal volatilization analysis (TVA) technique, degradation products initially at −196°C are allowed to warm up to ambient temperature in a controlled manner under vacuum conditions, and volatilization from the sample tube to a trap at −196°C is monitored by means of a Pirani gauge. The tec…

Switching and oscillation phenomena in SnO2-VOx-PdO ceramics

Yoshiaki Taketa、Ryoichi Furugochi1977-10-01Applied Physics Letters

Switching and oscillation were found in SnO2-VOx-PdO ceramics. This switching does not appear above 60°C. However, under 40°C, it comprises two switching actions and depends upon the ambient temperature. The oscillation is irregular and the amplitude is as great as 30−40 V at room temperature.

Akihito Ohtani、Seishiro Mizukami、Minoru Katayama 等 5 位作者1977-10-01Japanese Journal of Applied Physics

An octahedral multi-anvil apparatus has been developed for the study of X-ray diffraction under high pressure. High pressures up to 150 kbar can be generated in the centre of split cones when they move together as external load is applied upon the outer surfaces. The X-ray beam is focused to the specimen through a hor…
