Izabela Jurewicz、Joseph L. Keddie、Alan Β. Dalton2012-05-01Langmuir

We highlight the significance of capillary pressure in the directed assembly of nanorods in ordered arrays of colloidal particles. Specifically, we discuss mechanisms for the assembly of carbon nanotubes at the interstitial sites between latex polymer particles during composite film formation. Our study points to gene…

In this work, we suggest a method for microplasma synthesis of multicomponent iron-containing oxide coatings on the surface of aluminum alloys. For producing the coatings, we use a homogeneous electrolyte that contains iron in the form of its complexes with EDTA 4− and has a pH value of 9–10. The dynamics of the decre…

Nuria Sánchez‐Puig、C. Sauter、Bernard Lorber 等 5 位作者2012-05-01Protein and Peptide Letters

The outcome of protein crystallization attempts is often uncertain due to inherent features of the protein or to the crystallization process that are not fully under control of the experimentalist. The aim of this contribution is to propose user-friendly tools that can increase the success rate of a protein crytalliza…

The shape control inside a trenched 4H-SiC by atmospheric-pressure chlorine (Cl 2 ) etching has been investigated. The trench fabricated by a plasma process on the 4H-SiC(000 ) C-face with 4°-off toward [11 0] was used. The inside of the 4H-SiC trench was thermally etched in Cl 2 ambience at 900 °C. The subtrenches in…

Alkaline xylan extraction of bleached kraft pulp - effect of extraction time on pulp chemical composition and physical properties

Esa Saukkonen、Katja Lyytikäinen、Kaj Backfolk2012-05-01TAPPI Journal

In this pilot scale study, we examined the effects of alkaline extraction time on xylan removal, pulp and paper properties, and the consequences that need to be addressed when scaling up and intensifying the process. Alkaline extraction of bleached birch kraft pulp yields two fractions: pure polymeric xylan and pulp w…

Epitaxial Growths and Magnetization Dynamics of Ni2MnSn Heusler Alloy Films

J. Dubowik、I. Gościańska、Karol Załęski 等 7 位作者2012-05-01Acta Physica Polonica A

Ferromagnetic resonance has been investigated in Ni2MnSn Heusler alloy lms. The lms were deposited at 673 < T < 723 K on MgO(001) substrates by means of magnetron sputtering. X-ray diraction conrmed that the lms were epitaxial. The lms had magnetic parameters typical of bulk Ni2MnSn with L21 structural order.

Activated carbon fiber filler in aerated bioreactor for industrial wastewater treatment

Dongkai Zhou、Reti Hai、Wenxing Wang 等 5 位作者2012-05-01Water Science & Technology

The aerated bioreactor is a promising technology for wastewater treatment. Activated carbon fiber (ACF) used as a biomembrane carrier in wastewater disposal has attracted much more concern recently. The high modulus polyacrylonitrile (PAN)-based ACF was successfully used as a biomembrane carrier for hard-to-biodegrade…

Mechanisms of metal nanoparticle formation

A. Yu. Olenin2012-05-01Nanotechnologies in Russia

A metal nanoparticle core can be formed in two different ways: by sequential and by parallel growth. Sequential growth is achieved by elemental reaction M n + M = M n + 1, whereas parallel growth is achieved by M x + M y = M x + y . If the process of the core growth is random, then the particle size distribution is Ga…
