A Suggestion on the Standard X-Ray Powder Diffraction Pattern of Barium Ferrite

Hyun‐Joon Shin、Sang‐Hum Kwon1992-12-01Powder Diffraction

Abstract We have examined the barium ferrite powder X-ray diffraction patterns in the PDF using experimental and calculated diffractograms. An improved calculated diffractogram is proposed. The result indicates that the primary peak of barium ferrite is not (107) but is (114).

Modeling of growth rate dispersion in batch cooling crystallization

Martin Bohlin、Åke C. Rasmuson1992-12-01AIChE Journal

Abstract The influence of growth rate dispersion on the product‐size distribution of batch cooling crystallization is investigated by computer simulations. The model accounts for primary and magma density‐dependent secondary nucleation, and growth rate dispersion of the constant crystal growth type. The model is solve…

S. Sankaralingam、S. Mathi Jaya、G. Pari 等 4 位作者1992-12-01physica status solidi (b)

Abstract The first band structures and calculated electronic properties of the compounds LaSe and LaTe are reported. The energy band structure of lanthanum monochalcogenides are obtained using the self‐consistent LMTO method within the atomic sphere approximation. The band structure outputs were used to calculate the…

Numbering the crystallographic variants in phase transformation

Michel Humbert、Frank R. Wagner、Claude Esling1992-12-01Journal of Applied Crystallography

In phase transformation one initial orientation gives rise to several final orientations called crystallographic variants. In this paper it is shown that the number of physically distinct variants depends not only on the lattice symmetry of the initial phase but also on the mutual orientation relations between the lat…

In permanent magnetic materials magnetization reversal does not take place by coherent and global rotation. No collective processes are involved when the energy barrier implicated in the reversal is of magnetocrystalline nature acting at the atomic level. The mechanism by which magnetization reversal occurs involves sev…

Real‐time X‐ray scattering study of thermal expansion of poly(butylene terephthalate)

Peter P. Huo、Peggy Cebe、Malcolm Capel1992-12-01Journal of Polymer Science Part B Polymer Physics

Abstract Real‐time x‐ray scattering at elevated temperatures has been used to investigate the thermal expansion characteristics of poly(butylene terephthalate), PBT. Changes in the six lattice parameters of the α‐form of PBT were obtained from wide‐angle x‐ray scattering over the temperature range from 35 to 215°C. Th…

Transmission electron microscopy in situ observation of crack propagation in sintered alumina

Yuichi Ikuhara、Toshiyuki Suzuki、Yukio Kubo1992-12-01Philosophical Magazine Letters

Abstract Crack propagation behaviour in sintered alumina has been observed by in situ straining experiments in a transmission electron microscope at 800°C. Dislocations were generated at the crack tips, and the strain contour line around the crack tips was found to oscillate periodically during crack propagation. Crac…

Electrophoretic Behavior of Imogolite under Alkaline Conditions

Jutaro Karube、Katsuya Nakaishi、Hideo Sugimoto 等 4 位作者1992-12-01Clays and Clay Minerals

Abstract Electrophoretic mobility of imogolite has been reported as positive (migration toward the negative electrode) below pH 9, and zero above pH 9. However, when mobility of dilute imogolite suspensions (5 × 10 −3 kg/m 3 ) was measured, it was found to be negative above pH 9. The reason that imogolite does not beh…

The concentration dependence of the hole mobility of 1,1-bis(di-4-tolylaminophenyl)cyclohexane doped bisphenol-A-polycarbonate

P. M. Borsenberger1992-12-01Journal of Applied Physics

Hole mobilities of 1,1,-bis(di-4-tolylaminophenyl)cyclohexane (TAPC) doped bisphenol-A- polycarbonate have been measured over a range of concentrations. The mobilities are strongly concentration dependent, increasing with increasing TAPC concentration. The results are described within the framework of the disorder for…

Extrudate swell of high density polyethylene. Part III: Extrusion blow molding die geometry effects

R. J. Koopmans1992-12-01Polymer Engineering and Science

Abstract Two high density polyethylene resins—801 and 802— are examined with regard to their isothermal, time‐dependent, and nonisothermal swelling properties when emerging from two annular and three diverging dies. The short time swelling characteristics of samples 801 and 802 are very important for these dies, resul…

Extraction and Evaluation of Fibers from Sugar Cane

Billie J. Collier、John R. Collier、Pankaj Agarwal 等 4 位作者1992-12-01Textile Research Journal

Sugar cane fiber bundles were extracted from the separated rind of cane stalks using alkaline treatments. The amount of lignin removed depended on alkaline concentration and time and pressure of treatment; agitation and vigorous boiling also affected the lignin removal. A severity factor R was calculated to compare th…

SUMMARY In this first of three papers, the parent materials, morphology and field relationships of soils with fragipans, similar to those in north‐eastern United States, are described and analyses of their chemical and physical properties are presented to support a periglacial stage of development. The soil materials…
