Temperature Dependence of the Absorption Spectrum of Nickel(II)-Doped KMgCl3 and the Crystal Structure of KMgCl3

J. Brynestad、Harry L. Yakel、Gregory P. Smith1966-12-15The Journal of Chemical Physics

Temperature dependence from 80° to 763°K is reported for the intraconfigurational 3d8↔3d8 transitions of octahedrally coordinated [NiCl6]4− in single crystals of K(Mg1−x, Nix)Cl3 with small x. The crystal structure of the host material, KMgCl3, is reported at 298°, 383°, and 448°K. Band energies are treated in terms o…

Etude de la cristallisation des polymères I. Structure lamellaire de polyoxyéthylènes de faible masse moléculaire

J. P. Arlif、Pierre Spegt、A. Skoulios1966-12-15Die Makromolekulare Chemie

Abstract Seven low molecular weight polyethyleneoxide samples have been studied by means of low‐angle X‐ray diffraction technique and dilatometry. The thickness of the crystalline lamellae of the polymer has been found exactly to correspond to the known length of the full extended polymer chains, the gap between the l…

Thermodynamic Properties of Rubidium—Graphite Lamellar Compounds

F. J. Salzano、S. Aronson1966-12-15The Journal of Chemical Physics

Phase equilibria in the rubidium—graphite system were studied by means of the Knudsen effusion method in conjunction with a tracer technique. A new compound, C10Rb, analogous to the compound C10Cs, was observed. Vapor-pressure measurements were made in the various two-phase regions in the rubidium—graphite system at t…

Survey of Negative-Ion—Molecule Reactions in O2, CO2, H2O, CO, and Mixtures of These Gases at High Pressures

J L Moruzzi、A. V. Phelps1966-12-15The Journal of Chemical Physics

The negative-ion species produced in O2 and some gases containing oxygen have been surveyed for various pressure and E/p conditions using an rf mass spectrometer coupled to an electron drift tube operating at pressures up to 5 torr. The gases studied include O2, CO2, H2O, and CO as well as the mixtures CO2–O2, H2O–O2,…

Attenuation and Rotation of Plane-Polarized Ultrasound in Copper in a Longitudinal Magnetic Field

J. R. Boyd、J. D. Gavenda1966-12-09Physical Review

The rotation of the plane of polarization and attenuation of a shear sound wave at 4.2\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}K have been measured for the propagation vector q parallel to the magnetic field B in the [001] direction in copper. Frequencies from 30 to 110 Mc/sec were used. Both the attenuation and rotation ar…

Optical Properties of Free Electrons in ZnO

R. L. Weiher1966-12-09Physical Review

The optical properties of indium-doped ZnO crystals, with free-carrier concentrations ranging from ${10}^{19}$ to 5\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}${10}^{19}$ ${\mathrm{cm}}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$, have been studied at room temperature. The condition of the crystal surfaces has been shown to influence radically the refl…

Calculations of Small Vacancy and Interstitial Clusters for an fcc Lattice

R. A. Johnson1966-12-09Physical Review

Binding and migration energies and atomic configurations have been calculated for small vacancy and interstitial clusters in an fcc lattice with a model which should be applicable to nickel. The mathematical model consisted of a spherical crystallite containing about 530 atoms which were treated as individual particle…

Photoemission of Electrons fromn-Type Degenerate Silicon into Silicon Dioxide

Alvin M. Goodman1966-12-09Physical Review

Photoemission of electrons from both the conduction and valence bands of $n$-type strongly degenerate silicon (${10}^{26}$ electrons/${\mathrm{m}}^{3}$) into thermally grown silicon dioxide layers has been observed. The threshold energies have been determined for the two processes and are used to obtain the following…

Kopplungsprinzipien organischer Farbstoffe

S. Dähne、D. Leupold1966-12-07Angewandte Chemie

Twins and stacking faults on {310} planes in body-centred cubic metals

Craig S. Hartley1966-12-01Philosophical magazine

The stacking properties of {310} planes in body-centred cubic metals and their relation to twinning behaviour are investigated. It is shown that the twinning translation can be produced by a partial dislocation with Burgers vector of the form (α/10)〈513〉. Such partials can be formed by the dissociation onto a {310} pl…

A Preliminary Investigation of the Bidirectional Spectral Reflectance of V-grooved Surfaces

Richard B. Zipin1966-12-01Applied Optics

The bidirectional spectral reflectance of a set of V-grooved surfaces has been investigated in an attempt to separate the influences of the mean slope and the peak-to-valley height. The experimental results show good agreement with the theoretical models in both the geometrical optics and diffraction ranges.

Influence of Molecular Structure on Liquid Crystalline Properties and Phase Transitions in Mixed Liquid Crystals

Jayrang S. Dave、K. L. Vasanth1966-12-01Molecular Crystals

A number of binary systems comprising a liquid crystalline Schiff's base, viz. p-acetoxybenzal-p-phenetidine and a non-liquid crystalline Schiff's base are studied. In all these cases, the liquid phase, be it anisotropic or not, is a single homogeneous phase. There is no indication of two distinct liquid phases, one a…

In support of a model of creep based on dislocation dynamics

G. A. Webster1966-12-01Philosophical magazine

Dislocation measurements obtained after creep of Fe-3·0% Si by Barrett et al. (1966) have been analysed. It is shown that mean mobile dislocation velocity is linearly related to mobile dislocation density in support of a previous model of creep (Webster 1966). Furthermore, the creep curves calculated using these resul…
