Paul H. J. Kouwer、Wolter F. Jager、W Mijs 等 4 位作者2002-04-20Macromolecules

We have prepared a new discotic nematogen, bearing one functional tail and five methoxy substituents. The corresponding side chain polymers, prepared via a polymer analogous esterification reaction, exhibited N D phases from 50 °C until degradation above 200 °C. Addition of equimolar amounts of various trinitrofluoren…

New heterospin complexes of Cu(hfac)2 (hfac, hexafluoroacetylacetonate) with pyrazole-substituted nitronyl nitroxides have been found that in the solid state exhibit thermally induced spin transitions analogous to spin crossover. For the first complex, [Cu(hfac)2Li-Pr], at room temperature, the Cu—OL distances, where…

Amphipolar Core−Shell Cylindrical Brushes as Templates for the Formation of Gold Clusters and Nanowires

Ramin Djalali、Shuyou Li、Manfred Schmidt2002-04-20Macromolecules

Methacryloyl end-functionalized block copolymers consisting of styrene and vinyl-2-pyridine were polymerized to poly(block co-macromonomer)s with a much higher main chain than side chain degree of polymerization. Like homo-polymacromonomers these molecules exhibit the structure of cylindrical brushes. Since the vinylp…

Single Living Cell Encapsulation in Nano-organized Polyelectrolyte Shells

Alberto Diaspro、Daniela Silvano、Silke Krol 等 5 位作者2002-04-20Langmuir

Single living yeast cells have been encapsulated by the alternate adsorption of oppositely charged polyelectrolytes. Exploiting fluorescence techniques, we provide evidence of the shell and cell integrity after the coating procedure. The most relevant result, however, is that, after encapsulation, cells preserve their…

We perform molecular dynamics simulations of a bead−spring polymer melt surrounding a nanoscopic particle. We explore the effect of the polymer/nanoparticle interactions, surface-to-volume ratio, and boundary conditions on both the structure and dynamics of the polymer melt. We find that the chains near the nanopartic…
