An intravenous injection of 153Gd-labeled gadolinium-DTPA or gadolinium chloride was given to 60 rats, which were killed either 15, 40, 120, 300, 900, or 3600 seconds later. Tissue concentrations of gadolinium in the blood, liver, spleen, stomach, pancreas, renal cortex, renal medulla, lungs, heart, adrenals, gluteal…

II. Microscopic mechanism

Michel Carrard、Jean‐Luc Martin1988-09-01Philosophical magazine. A/Philosophical magazine. A. Physics of condensed matter. Structure, defects and mechanical properties

In part I of this study, extensive evidence for glide on the non-compact plane (001) was obtained in [112] aluminium single crystals under creep conditions at high temperatures. In this part II the same single crystals are used to measure the critical resolved shear stress for (001) glide as a function of strain rate…

Mechanistic deductions from kinetic isotope effects and pH studies of pyridoxal phosphate dependent carbon-carbon lyases: Erwinia herbicola and Citrobacter freundii tyrosine phenol-lyase

Dennis M. Kiick、Robert S. Phillips1988-09-01Biochemistry

The pH dependence of the kinetic parameters and primary deuterium isotope effects have been determined for tyrosine phenol-lyase from both Erwinia herbicola and Citrobacter freundii. The primary deuterium isotope effects indicate that proton abstraction from the 2-position of the substrate is partially rate-limiting f…

FACTORS AFFECTING PHOSPHATE SORPTION AND PHOSPHATE RETENTION IN A DESERT ECOSYSTEM

Kate Lajtha、Sherman H. Bloomer1988-09-01Soil Science

In a study of soils from a chronosequence in southern New Mexico, where CaCO3 accumulation is primarily derived from aeolian input, P adsorption was greatest in the most highly calcic horizons and least in horizons of clay and oxyhydroxide accumulation. Similarly, adsorption capacity was most highly correlated with Ca…

Compositional and Solubility Relationships Between Aluminum‐hydroxyinterlayered Soil‐Smectites and Vermiculites

A. D. Karathanasis1988-09-01Soil Science Society of America Journal

Abstract Coarse clay fractions (2–0.2 µm) of selected soil samples containing variable quantities (10–52%) of Al‐hydroxyinterlayered smectite (HISM) or vermiculite (HIV) were investigated by XRD, thermal, elemental and solution composition analyses. The HISM vs. HIV nature of the sample was determined from the smectit…

The effect of debris formation on the morphology of excimer laser ablated polymers

R. S. Taylor、K. E. Leopold、Donald L. Singleton 等 5 位作者1988-09-01Journal of Applied Physics

A study of the distribution of the debris formed by the XeCl laser ablation of polyimide and polyethylene terephthalate and the KrCl laser ablation of polyimide shows that it is the redeposition of debris rather than impurities which accounts for the cone structures commonly seen in the surface morphology.

Pharmacokinetic and acute-toxicity studies of Gd-DOTA meglumine (Mgl) were evaluated in various animals and compared with those of Gd-DTPA Mgl. The agents were injected intravenously at two dosages: 0.1 or 0.5 mmol/kg. Various organs and tissues were removed at specified times after injection and assayed for gadoliniu…

Lanthanides as probes for time-resolved fluorometric immunoassays

Ilkka Hemmilä1988-09-01Scandinavian Journal of Clinical and Laboratory Investigation

In recent years development in the field of immunologic assays has been characterized by an expanding use of monoclonal antibodies [1] and two-site ‘sandwich’ type assays [2]. Concomitantly, the assay sensitivities and specificities have improved considerably, which has opened new possibilities and areas of applicatio…

The Catalytic Reduction of Aldehydes and Ketones with 2-Propanol over Hydrous Zirconium Oxide

Makoto Shibagaki、Kyôko Takahashi、Hajime Matsushita1988-09-01Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan

Abstract Reduction of aldehydes with 2-propanol proceeded efficiently by catalysis with hydrous zirconium oxide to give the corresponding alcohols. Most ketones also were reduced efficiently, but conjugated or sterically hindered ketones resisted the reduction. The reduction was carried out with primary, secondary, or…

Infrared and Raman spectra of t r a n s,t r a n s-1,3,5,7-octatetraene and normal-coordinate analysis based on a b i n i t i o molecular orbital calculations

Hiroshi Yoshida、Mitsuo Tasumi1988-09-01The Journal of Chemical Physics

The infrared and Raman spectra of trans,trans-1,3,5,7-octatetraene have been observed. It has been found that the spectral data reported in 1959 for this compound contain bands due to either impurities or geometrical isomers other than the trans, trans form. Band assignments are performed by using the results of ab ini…

Metal–spin-density-wave transition in a quasi-one-dimensional conductor: Pressure and magnetic field effects

Gilles Montambaux1988-09-01Physical review. B, Condensed matter

This paper provides a mean-field description of the spin-density-wave (SDW) state of a quasi-one-dimensional (quasi-1D) conductor with an open Fermi surface, as well as of its behavior in low magnetic field. The variation of simple quantities with the degree of nesting is worked out: These quantities are the specific-…
