Brishti Mitra、Xingtao Gao、Israel E. Wachs 等 5 位作者2001-01-01Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics

The nature of the surface rhenium oxide species present in supported rhenium oxide catalysts was determined as a function of the oxide support, rhenium oxide loading and secondary metal oxide additives. The catalysts were prepared using the incipient wetness impregnation method with dilute aqueous perrhenic acid as th…

Materials for rechargeable batteries and clean hydrogen energy sources

Zbigniew S. Wronski2001-01-01International Materials Reviews

Materials for energy sources, such as rechargeable batteries and fuel cells, are functional materials. Their development presents special challenges since they are designed for more than one function and must satisfy multiple and mostly interlocking requirements. A unique combination of properties is achievable in com…

On PD mechanisms at high temperature in voids included in an epoxy resin

R. Schifani、R. Candela、Pietro Romano2001-01-01IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation

In this paper the effects of temperature on partial discharge (PD) activity taking place inside a spherical void in epoxy resin system are studied. Indeed, some experimental tests previously performed on specimens, having different void shapes, under multi-stress condition of temperature and voltage, have shown very d…

Investigation of porphyrin-forming reactions. Part 3. The origin of scrambling in dipyrromethane + aldehyde condensations yielding trans-A2B2-tetraarylporphyrins

G. Richard Geier、Benjamin J. Littler、Jonathan S. Lindsey2001-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Perkin Transactions 2

The dipyrromethane + aldehyde condensation is a common method for the synthesis of trans-A2B2-porphyrins, but is often plagued by scrambling processes that lead to a mixture of porphyrins. The problem of scrambling is more pronounced with unhindered dipyrromethanes (e.g., 5-phenyldipyrromethane) than with hindered dip…

Removal of dilute benzene using a zeolite-hybrid plasma reactor

Atsushi Ogata、Daisuke Itô、Kazunori Mizuno 等 5 位作者2001-01-01IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications

The decomposition of benzene was carried out using a plasma reactor packed with a mixture of BaTiO/sub 3/ and zeolite pellets, the zeolite-hybrid reactor. The reactor performance was characterized by measuring CO/sub x/ formed during plasma discharge and CO/sub x/ adsorbed on the solid surface, The decomposition effic…

Jong‐In Hong、In-Hyeong Yeo、Woon‐kie Paik2001-01-01Journal of The Electrochemical Society

Electrodes made by depositing ruthenium oxide on conducting poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDT) were studied for their electrochemical and impedance properties. In acidic electrolytes the composite electrodes exhibited large capacitance due to contributions from the double-layer capacitance and the faradaic capaci…

Eduardo L. Crepaldi、Galo J. A. A. Soler‐Illia、David Grosso 等 5 位作者2001-01-01Chemical Communications

Bidimensional hexagonal or centred-rectangular mesoporous zirconia thin films have been reproducibly prepared by evaporation-induced self-assembly (EISA), which are stable up to 300 degrees C, with pore size around 35 A; the films can be post-functionalised with organic ligands presenting different functions, opening…

Successive reactions of gaseous trimethylaluminium and ammonia on porous alumina

Riikka L. Puurunen、Marina Lindblad、Andew Root 等 4 位作者2001-01-01Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics

Successive reactions of gaseous trimethylaluminium (TMA) and ammonia on porous alumina were studied with the goal of finding suitable process conditions for preparing aluminium nitride (AlN) by atomic layer deposition (ALD), a technique based on separate saturating gas–solid reactions. The reaction of TMA was studied…

Synthesis and enzymatic degradation of high molecular weight aliphatic polyesters

Hiroyuki Shirahama、Yoshihide Kawaguchi、M.S. Aludin 等 4 位作者2001-01-01Journal of Applied Polymer Science

The aliphatic polyesters with high molecular weight have been prepared according to two methods. First is the synthesis of the polyesters by polycondensation of dimethyl succinate (DMS) with 1,4-butanediol (BD) using various metal alkoxides as a catalyst. Among the metal alkoxides used, titanium tetraisopropoxide [Ti(…

Carbon nanotube reinforced ceramics

Gan Lin Hwang、Kuo Chu Hwang2001-01-01Journal of Materials Chemistry

Silicon dioxide glass rods of micrometer sizes were synthesized by using surfactant–carbon nanotube co-micelles as templates. These glass rods were used as additives to reinforce inorganic ceramics. The mechanical strength of the silicon dioxide ceramic is enhanced by ∼100% in the presence of ∼6 wt% of CNTs.

The glass transition of thin polymer films: Some questions, and a possible answer

Stephan Herminghaus、Karin Jacobs、Ralf Seemann2001-01-01MPG.PuRe (Max Planck Society)

A simple and predictive model is put forward explaining the experimentally observed substantial shift of the glass transition temperature, T g, of sufficiently thin polymer films. It focuses on the limit of small molecular weight, where geometrical `finite size' effects on the chain conformation can be ruled out. The…
