Summary: A membrane surrounding poly-β-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) granules isolated from both Bacillus cereus and B. megaterium has been demonstrated by the carbon-replica technique and electron microscopy. Some general features and properties of both the membrane and PHB granules are discussed.
