Scale Inhibition by the Squeeze Technique

J.K. Kerver、Joe K. Heilhecker1969-01-01Journal of Canadian Petroleum Technology

ABSTRACT The productivity of many wells has been seriously reduced in the pastbecause of scale deposition. In some fields, the produced water is saturatedwith gyp (calcium sulphate) that precipitates in the pores of the reservoirformation sand near the wellbore. Chemical treatments have successfullyrestored productivi…

G. C. Hayward、P. J. Hendra1969-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society A Inorganic Physical Theoretical

I.r. and laser Raman spectra of 1 : 1 halogen and interhalogen adducts of dimethyl sulphide, selenide, and telluride, Me2YX2(Y = S, Se, or Te; X = halogen), have been recorded and interpreted in terms of a four-co-ordinate covalent structure of a trigonal bipyramidal type and a charge-transfer formulation of type Me2Y…

Gas-phase Raman spectroscopy of trigonal bipyramidal pentachlorides and pentabromides

I. R. Beattie、Geoffrey A. Ozin1969-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society A Inorganic Physical Theoretical

The Raman spectra of PCl5, SbCl5, NbCl5, TaCl5, MoCl5, NbBr5, and TaBr5 in the gas phase have been recorded. In all cases the data is consistent with the presence of five-co-ordinate trigonal bipyramidal species. The Raman spectra of gaseous PCl5, SbCl5, and MoCl5, show intersting temperature-dependent effects.

Dependence of Flow Stress on Nonstoichiometry in Oxygen‐Rich Uranium Dioxide at High Temperatures

J. S. Nadeau1969-01-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

The compressive flow stresses of UO 2+x polycrystals and single crystals were measured between 900° and 16000°C. The stoichiometry was controlled by CO 2 /CO gas mixtures during the tests. The functional dependence of strength on stoichiometry was: image where C and m are constant at a constant temperature and 0.001 ≤…

Studies of Inhibition of Magnesium Corrosion

David A. Vermilyea、Carol F. Kirk1969-01-01Journal of The Electrochemical Society

The corrosion of pure magnesium in aqueous solutions of various p H has been studied. The reaction product is a porous layer consisting mainly of in the absence of inhibitors, but films formed in solutions containing are composed of substances which could not be identified. The reaction in inhibitor‐free solutions pro…

Charge transfer in mixed-valence solids. Part IV. Electronic spectra of hexachloroantimonates(III,V)

Lauren Atkinson、Peter Day1969-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society A Inorganic Physical Theoretical

Four series of hexachloroantimonate(III,V) salts, AI2SbxSn1–xCl6(AI= NH4+, Cs+, and MeNH3+), and Cs2SbIIIy-InIII½–ySbV½Cl6 have been prepared and characterised by chemical analysis, X-ray powder diffraction, and far-i.r. measurements. Visible and u.v. spectra of all the compounds were measured at room temperature by d…

The Electrochemical Behavior of Titanium

Nygil Thomas、Ken Nobe1969-01-01Journal of The Electrochemical Society

The anodic and cathodic behavior of titanium in sulfuric acid in the absence and presence of chloride ions have been investigated. Two stable corrosion potentials were observed. One was in the active region, the other in the passive region. Neither corrosion potential was appreciably affected by chloride ions or p H c…

A Simplified Method of Determining the Inplane Shear Stress-Strain Response of Unidirectional Composites

Philippe Petit1969-01-01OpenAlex

A simple and relatively inexpensive technique is presented for determining the inplane shear stress-strain response of unidirectional composites. The method utilizes the stress-strain results from an uniaxial test on a ±45-deg laminate which is symmetrically laminated about the midplane. Through the use of relations d…

Experimental Investigations of Chromite Spinels

Gene C. Ulmer1969-01-01OpenAlex

Abstract The techniques of oxygen-fugacity buffering have recently been applied to several ternary and quaternary systems for the purpose of studying the stability and extent of chromite spinel solid solutions. Examination of data at the subsolidus temperature of 1,300° C provides an insight into the phase relationshi…

Structure‐property relationships for styrene‐diene thermoplastic elastomers

Maurice Morton、James E. McGrath、Peter C. Juliano1969-01-01Journal of Polymer Science Part C Polymer Symposia

Abstract A study has been carried out on block polymers of the A‐B‐A type, the thermoplastic elastomers, where A represents polystyrene and B polybutadiene or polyisoprene. The objective was to relate the mechanical properties of these elastomers to their molecular architecture. For this purpose a series of styrene‐bu…

D.C. corona on smooth conductors in air. Steady-state analysis of the ionisation layer

Maruvada Sarma、W. Janischewskyj1969-01-01Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers

A theoretical analysis of the electric-field distribution in the ionisation layer of a d.c. corona discharge under equivalent steady-state conditions is presented for both positive and negative polarities of the conductor. Using available experimental data on ionisation and attachment coefficients in air, the conditio…

Dielectric Breakdown of Polymer Films

J. Blök、D. G. LeGrand1969-01-01Journal of Applied Physics

Strong electric fields have been applied to dielectric polymer films to study field-induced mechanical stresses. For voltages near breakdown the mechanical forces are sufficient to cause localized deformation in some polymer films. Considerable field enhancement can occur at the deformation sites, leading to reduced n…

The Structure of High‐Angle Grain Boundaries in Aluminium

J. Lévy1969-01-01physica status solidi (b)

Abstract A transmission electron‐microscopy study of high‐angle grain boundaries has been made. David Kalish、E.V. Clougherty、KONSTANTINE KREDER1969-01-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

Zirconium diboride and hafnium diboride were fabricated by hot‐pressing at 1800°C and 120,000 psi. Bend strengths were measured on the fully dense materials from 25° to 1400° C in an argon atmosphere. These diboride compounds do not exhibit any gross plastic flow in the temperature range studied. The bend strengths go…

Planare Komplexe mit Metall‐Metall‐Bindungen

Klaus Krogmann1969-01-01Angewandte Chemie

Dabei b…
