Effect of Oxygen Partial Pressure on Oxidation of Iron at 573 K

Hitoshi Sakai、Toshihide Tsuji、Keiji Naito1984-11-01Journal of Nuclear Science and Technology

The oxidation of iron was investigated by Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy at 573 K under the oxygen partial pressure from 10−1 to 105 Pa for 3~24 h. In the first stage of oxidation, thickness of the oxide film reached the maximum around 1 Pa. In the second stage the oxidation obeyed the parabolic rate law. From…

Reflection and Photoconduction Spectra of the Single Crystals of Perylene-TCNQ 1:1 and 3:1 Molecular Complexes

Kikujiro Ishii、Kyuya Yakushi、Haruo Kuroda 等 4 位作者1984-11-01Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan

Abstract Crystal absorption spectra of the two modifications of the perylene-TCNQ (7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethan) complex were derived from reflection spectra by the Kramers-Kronig transformation and are discussed in relation to the differences in the crystal structures. The spectral response of photoconduction does…

Spectroscopic Study of the Crystal Field Splittings in TbPO4

Walter Böhm、H. G. Kahle、W. Wüchner1984-11-01physica status solidi (b)

Abstract The optical absorption and emission spectra of Tb 3+ in TbPO 4 in its tetragonal structure above 2.3 K are studied to obtain the energies, symmetry types, and wave functions of mainly the lowest crystal field components of the ground term 7 F 6 . Crystal field parameters are evaluated and used to calculate th…

Effect of particle stimulated nucleation on orientation of recrystallized grains

Helen M. Chan、F.J. Humphreys1984-11-01Metal Science

An Al-6 wt-%Ni alloy containing a volume fraction of 0.1 of 1.1 μm dia. particles was deformed 95% by cold rolling and annealed. Recrystallization was nucleated in the vicinity of the particles, and the orientation of the new grains was investigated by X-ray and electron diffraction. The orientation of the recrystalli…

Network structure in bisphthalonitrile polymers

Jeffrey A. Hinkley1984-11-01Journal of Applied Polymer Science

Bisphthalonitrile monomers were cured neat, with nucleophilic and redox coreactants, or in combination with a monofunctional model compound. Dynamic mechanical measurements on the resulting polymers from −150°C to +300°C turn up several differences attributable to differences in network structure. Rheovibron results w…

Proton suicide: general method for direct selection of sugar transport- and fermentation-defective mutants

J W Winkelman、David P. Clark1984-11-01Journal of Bacteriology

We devised a positive selection procedure for bacterial mutants incapable of producing acid from sugars by fermentation. The method relied on the production of elemental bromine from a mixture of bromide and bromate under acidic conditions. When wild-type Escherichia coli cells were plated on media containing a fermen…

Effects of Compound Formulation on the Adhesion of Rubber to Brass-Plated Steel Cord

Yasuhiro Ishikawa1984-11-01Rubber Chemistry and Technology

Abstract Implications for cord adhesion from this study are as follows: 1) In the low-adhesion compounds containing low cobalt naphthenate and sulfur levels, adhesion increases with decreasing cobalt naphthenate:sulfur ratio, at a given amount of cobalt naphthenate. 2) Under mild curing condition (160°C, 20 min), high…

The Velocity of Missiles Generated by the Disintegration of Gas-Pressurized Vessels and Pipes

M.R. Baum1984-11-01Journal of Pressure Vessel Technology

The predictions are compared with new and existing experimental data for spherical and cylindrical vessels and are shown to be an improvement over the widely used empirical correlation develope…

Kosuke NAGAYA、Hiroyuki Kojima、Yasuo Karube 等 4 位作者1984-11-01IEEE Transactions on Magnetics

A method for analyzing a magnetic damper (eddy current brake) consisting of a cylindrical magnet and a plate conductor of arbitrary shape is considered. Since the magnetic flux is a function of the position, the analytical solution to obtain the eddy current, braking force, and damping coefficient is obtained by divid…
