The Study of the Surface Tension of Charge‐Stabilized Colloidal Dispersions

Lichun Dong、Duane Johnson2004-09-24Journal of Dispersion Science and Technology

Our measurements of the surface tension of charge‐stabilized TiO2 and SiO2 dispersions show that the surface tension of the dispersions is a function of the particle concentration. At lower concentrations, the adsorption of particles to the interface decreases the total free energy of the system which causes a decreas…

Effect of repulsive and attractive interactions on depletion forces in colloidal suspensions: A density functional theory treatment

S. A. Egorov2004-09-24Physical Review E

The author employs density functional theory to study colloidal interactions in solution. Hardcore Yukawa potentials with soft tails, either repulsive or attractive, are used to model colloid-solvent and solvent-solvent interactions. We analyze the effect of these interactions on the solvent-mediated potential of mean…

Simple and Efficient Route to Prepare Homogeneous Samples of Sr2FeMoO6 with a High Degree of Fe/Mo Order

Yunhui Huang、J. Lindén、H. Yamauchi 等 4 位作者2004-09-24Chemistry of Materials

Polycrystalline Sr 2 FeMoO 6 samples are synthesized by an encapsulation technique under very low oxygen partial pressures utilizing the Fe/FeO redox couple as an oxygen getter. A route based on thermal decomposition of metal complexes, using ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid as the complexant, is developed to prepare a…

Giant Dielectric Constant of Hexagonal BaTiO3 Crystal Grown by Containerless Processing

Jianding Yu、Paul‐François Paradis、Takehiko Ishikawa 等 7 位作者2004-09-24Chemistry of Materials

Oxygen-deficient h-BaTiO3 synthesized by noncontact processing exhibits a dielectric constant higher than 100 000 with a loss component of about 0.1 together with a weak temperature dependence in the range of 100 to 300 K. Dielectric constant dramatically dropped by 2 orders of magnitude below 70 K.

Reactive Solid-Phase Epitaxial Growth of Na x CoO 2 ( x ∼ 0.83) via Lateral Diffusion of Na into a Cobalt Oxide Epitaxial Layer

Hiromichi Ohta、Sung Wng Kim、Shingo Ohta 等 6 位作者2004-09-24Crystal Growth & Design

High-quality epitaxial films of layered cobaltite Na 0.83 CoO 2 were successfully grown on (0001)-oriented α-Al 2 O 3 substrate by reactive solid-phase epitaxy using CoO epitaxial layer and NaHCO 3 powder. First, the thermal oxidation of the CoO film into Co 3 O 4 occurs at a lower temperature (300−500 °C), then a Na…
