W. Wrasidlo、Joseph M. Augl1969-01-01Journal of Polymer Science Part A-1 Polymer Chemistry

Abstract A series of aromatic polyimide‐ co ‐amides of high thermal stability were synthesized. Low‐temperature solution condensation involving aromatic diamines of varying basicity and bifunctional carboxylic acid chlorides containing performed imide rings was empolyed. This approach offers several advantages over th…

P. Forchhammer、H.‐J. Engell1969-01-01Materials and Corrosion

Abstract Passive 18/8 Cr‐Ni‐Stähle unterliegen der durch Halogenionen hervorgerufenen Lochfraßkorrosion.

The nature of “A,B,C”-type infrared spectra of strongly hydrogen-bonded systems; pseudo-maxima in vibrational spectra

M. F. Claydon、N. Sheppard1969-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society D Chemical Communications

The multiple maxima in “A,B,C”-type i.r. spectra of hydrogen-bonded systems are caused by Fermi resonance of νOH(broad band) with 2δOH and 2γOH such that the minima correspond to the overtone frequencies.

Cathode Materials and Performance in High-Temperature Zirconia Electrolyte Fuel Cells

C. S. Tedmon、H. S. Spacil、S. P. Mitoff1969-01-01Journal of The Electrochemical Society

The high‐temperature zirconia electrolyte fuel cell is materials‐limited in both its performance and its range of potential application. The most significant materials limitations and problems occur with the cathode. Cathode materials must satisfy four general criteria: ( i ) chemical, ( ii ) electrochemical, ( iii )…

Interaction of spherical colloidal particles with planar surfaces

Matthew S. Hull、J. A. Kitchener1969-01-01Transactions of the Faraday Society

The rate of deposition of spherical polystyrene latex particles on smooth plastic films has been determined with the rotating disc technique. When the particles were negatively charged and the film positively charged, the deposition rate was closely in agreement with the Levich theory of diffusion-controlled transport…

Electron Spin Resonance of High-Spin d5 Systems

R.D. Dowsing、J. F. Gibson1969-01-01The Journal of Chemical Physics

The electron spin resonance spectra of polycrystalline samples of some sideramines (coprogen, ferrichrysin, ferricrocin, and ferrirubin), transferrin, and conalbumin are reported both at 9.3 and 36 kMc/sec and at various temperatures. These results have been interpreted in terms of a spin Hamiltonian of the form H = g…

On the Structure of Tapiolite Formed by Solid State Reactions

Toshiaki Ōsaka、Tadayuki Nakayama1969-01-01Transactions of the Japan Institute of Metals

The structure of tapiolite formed by the solid state reactions of tantalum pentoxide with iron oxides is discussed. Reactions were carried out in the following systems. (1) In the FeO–Ta2O5 system, ordered tapiolite was formed on heating in vacuum at 1050°C for 10 hr. It has a trirutile structure and is isomorphous wi…

Scale Inhibition by the Squeeze Technique

J.K. Kerver、Joe K. Heilhecker1969-01-01Journal of Canadian Petroleum Technology

ABSTRACT The productivity of many wells has been seriously reduced in the pastbecause of scale deposition. In some fields, the produced water is saturatedwith gyp (calcium sulphate) that precipitates in the pores of the reservoirformation sand near the wellbore. Chemical treatments have successfullyrestored productivi…

Infrared and laser Raman spectra of some species of the type Me2YX2 where Y = S, Se, or Te and X is a halogen atom

G. C. Hayward、P. J. Hendra1969-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society A Inorganic Physical Theoretical

I.r. and laser Raman spectra of 1 : 1 halogen and interhalogen adducts of dimethyl sulphide, selenide, and telluride, Me2YX2(Y = S, Se, or Te; X = halogen), have been recorded and interpreted in terms of a four-co-ordinate covalent structure of a trigonal bipyramidal type and a charge-transfer formulation of type Me2Y…

Gas-phase Raman spectroscopy of trigonal bipyramidal pentachlorides and pentabromides

I. R. Beattie、Geoffrey A. Ozin1969-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society A Inorganic Physical Theoretical

The Raman spectra of PCl5, SbCl5, NbCl5, TaCl5, MoCl5, NbBr5, and TaBr5 in the gas phase have been recorded. In all cases the data is consistent with the presence of five-co-ordinate trigonal bipyramidal species. The Raman spectra of gaseous PCl5, SbCl5, and MoCl5, show intersting temperature-dependent effects.

J. S. Nadeau1969-01-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

The compressive flow stresses of UO 2+x polycrystals and single crystals were measured between 900° and 16000°C. The stoichiometry was controlled by CO 2 /CO gas mixtures during the tests. The functional dependence of strength on stoichiometry was: image where C and m are constant at a constant temperature and 0.001 ≤…

A Simplified Method of Determining the Inplane Shear Stress-Strain Response of Unidirectional Composites

Philippe Petit1969-01-01OpenAlex

A simple and relatively inexpensive technique is presented for determining the inplane shear stress-strain response of unidirectional composites. The method utilizes the stress-strain results from an uniaxial test on a ±45-deg laminate which is symmetrically laminated about the midplane. Through the use of relations d…
