Electrokinetic properties of pulp and asbestos suspensions in the presence of some kinds of latexes

B. Ikonopisova、Valentin Valtchev、S. Petrov 等 4 位作者1983-02-01Acta Polymerica

Abstract The zeta potential of cellulose suspensions with resin and with butadiene‐styrene latex or acrylonitrile latex is independent of the quantity of the latex used. The addition of aluminium sulphate as an electrolyte leads to recharging of the particles. Mixed suspensions of 50% cellulose and 50% asbestos fibres…

(TETRABENZPORPHINATO)IRON

Nagao Kobayashi、Masami Koshiyama、Tetsuo Osa1983-02-01Chemistry Letters

Abstract The iron complex of tetrabenzporphine was prepared and characterized. Cyclic voltammetry, and UV absorption, EPR, and MCD spectroscopy have revealed that its monochloride and bisimidazole complexes are trivalent iron high- and low-spin complexes, respectively.

Influence of Short-Circuit Duration on Dynamic Stresses in Substations

Dimitri Tsanakas、B.C. Papadias1983-02-01IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems

The short-circuit peak current and the electromagnetic short-circuit peak force appear at about 10 ms after the short-circuit inception. However, the maximum value of dynamic stress due to the electromagnetic forces may occur much later and depends on the fundamental frequency of the structure. A decrease in dynamic s…

Thermogravimetric Analysis and Pyrolysis Kinetics of Cotton Fabrics Finished with THPOH-NH3

William E. Franklin、Stanley P. Rowland1983-02-01Journal of Macromolecular Science Part A - Chemistry

Unmodified cotton and cotton fabrics finished with eight add-ons of THPOH-NH3 were subjected to thermogravimetric analysis in a vacuum and in nitrogen. Nitrogen had no effect on the thermogravimetric data. THPOH-NH3up to 6% add-on lowered temperatures of maximum pyrolysis rates and decreased the weight loss per unit w…

A proposed diamond polishing process

C. Jeynes1983-02-01Philosophical magazine. A/Philosophical magazine. A. Physics of condensed matter. Structure, defects and mechanical properties

A two-stage, predominantly brittle wear-chip mechanism is developed which may describe fine polishing with diamond grit having sizes in the range 2–10 μm. (Coarser grits do not give a fine polished surface.) In the first stage, the size of the wear chips is determined by cracking in the elastic stress field behind the…

Coupled modes analysis of raman spectra: Application to the case of a KH2PO4 crystal in the paraelectric phase

Yasunari Takagi1983-02-01Ferroelectrics

In order to remove the existing confusion in analyzing Raman spectra in terms of a system of coupled damped harmonic oscillators, we discuss the phenomenological theory of coupled modes. It is suggested that in the coupled modes analysis of Raman spectra, the poles of the decoupled susceptibility are the most importan…

Anodic behavior of Fe40Ni40B20 and Fe39Ni39B10Si12 amorphous alloys

M. Janik‐Czachor1983-02-01Materials and Corrosion

Abstract Amorphous alloys Fe 40 Ni 40 B 20 and Fe 39 Ni 39 B 10 Si 12 exhibit a typical active/passive transition when anodically polarized in borate and/or phthalate buffer solutions, at pH = 4.0; 5.3;6.3 and 8.4. There is no large effect of Si on the anodic behaviour of the alloys in these media. Both alloys undergo…

<div class="htmlview paragraph">Dual phase steel offers potential for wheel weight reduction, but has not been completely succeeded, in part, because of a localized necking or a fracture during rim fabrication. This failure should be related to a softening in the weld heat affected zone (HAZ).</div> <di…

Notch sensitivity and fractography of polyolefins

R. D. Goolsby、A. M. Chatterjee1983-02-01Polymer Engineering and Science

Abstract The notch sensitivity of high‐density polyethylene (HDPE), polypropylene (PP), and polybutylene (PB) was evaluated using uniaxial tensile deformation and fractographic analysis. Each polyolefin was tested at relatively low and high molecular weights (MW). Only the lower MW HDPE was found to be clearly notch‐s…

The Influence of Mn3+ on the Stability Relations of the Al2Si05 Polymorphs with Special Emphasis on Manganian Andalusites (Viridines), Formula: An Experimental Investigation

I. Abs-Wurmbach、Klaus Langer、W. SCHREYER1983-02-01Journal of Petrology

Manganian adalusites, (Al1-xMnx3+)2(O/SiO4), with 0·012 ≤ x ≤ 0·22 (viridines) were synthesized along the join Al2SiO5– ‘Mn2SiO5’ under the fO2 conditions of the MnO2/Mn2O3 buffer. Their stability, miscibility, and compatibility relations were determined through seeded runs as a function of pressure, temperature, and…

Vacancy in Graphite: Positron Srudies

Michio Shimotomai、Tadao Iwata、Tohru Takahashi 等 4 位作者1983-02-01Journal of the Physical Society of Japan

The positron techniques of lifetime and Doppler-broadening were applied to vacancies in graphite. Vacancies were introduced into highly-oriented pyrolytic graphite by irradiation with 2 MeV electrons and fission reactor neutrons. The lifetime of positrons trapped at the vacancies was determined as 245±5 ps. Lifetime s…

Quality of byproducts from chemical and physical refining of palm oil and other oils

Wong Mong Hong1983-02-01Journal of the American Oil Chemists Society

Abstract Being byproducts, palm soapstock, palm acid oil and palm fatty acid distillates (PFAD) have a wide range of quality and composition. They also consist of many impurities and minor components. Due to development of refining techniques. PFAD have largely replaced palm acid oil, especially in the producing count…

The isolated partial and dissociated total dislocations in deformed ZnS crystals

A. V. Zaretskii、Yu. A. Osip’yan、Victor F. Petrenko 等 5 位作者1983-02-01Philosophical magazine. A/Philosophical magazine. A. Physics of condensed matter. Structure, defects and mechanical properties

The dislocation structure of plastically deformed ZnS crystals has been studied using transmission electron microscopy. It is shown that both total and partial dislocations are simultaneously available in the crystal. The total dislocations are dissociated into Shockley partials.
