Raman scattering and vibrational dynamics of MnCl2·2H2O

Bipin K. Srivastava、D. P. Khandelwal、H. D. Bist1978-08-01Journal of Raman Spectroscopy

Abstract The laser excited Raman spectrum of MnCl 2 ·2H 2 O has been reported in the 4000–150 cm −1 region and discussed in conjunction with the known IR spectra. The bands have been assigned to internal and librational modes of water and other lattice modes. It has been found that the correlation splitting parameter…

The Theory of Fabric Porosity as Applied to Parachutes in Incompressible Flow

Peter R. Payne1978-08-01Aeronautical Quarterly

Summary Many aspects of parachute behaviour are dominated by the permeability of the canopy cloth. Techniques employing kinematic principles to predict parachute opening behaviour, for example, must first be able to predict the air flow through the canopy material. This paper is concerned with the development of such…

Recycling of polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foam

H. Ulrich、A. Odinak、Bernabe S. Tucker 等 4 位作者1978-08-01Polymer Engineering and Science

Abstract Heating of isocyanate derived foams with glycol mixtures is a simple and economically attractive recycling process. The process is emission free, not sensitive to varying product mixes and the obtained polyols can be completely reused in the manufacture of rigid polyurethane or polyisocyanurate foam.

Structural Phase Transitions in CsPbCl3 and RbCdCl3

S. Pleško、R. Kind、J. Roos1978-08-01Journal of the Physical Society of Japan

Structural phase transitions in CsPbCl 3 and RbCdCl 3 have been investigated by 133 Cs and 87 Rb nuclear magnetic resonance. The space groups of the room temperature phase in CsPbCl 3 and of two unknown phases in RbCdCl 3 could be clarified. Thus both perovskites show the same phase sequence from cubic Pm3m -O 1 h to…

Dielectric losses in ferroelectric ceramics produced by domain-wall motion

J. O. Gentner、P. Gerthsen、N. A. Schmidt 等 4 位作者1978-08-01Journal of Applied Physics

The oscillation of domain walls caused by alternating fields is often thought to be the origin of dielectric losses. In this paper the physical nature of losses is explained by the damping of moving 90° domain walls. For frequencies up to 108 Hz the origin of damping of the wall motion is ascribed to point defects wit…

Oxidation of Zircaloy-4 under High Temperature Steam Atmosphere and Its Effect on Ductility of Cladding

Satoru Kawasaki、Teruo FURUTA、Motoe Suzuki1978-08-01Journal of Nuclear Science and Technology

Zircaloy-steam reaction rate in flowing steam was measured in the temperature range of 900∼1,330°C. The reaction rate measured from the weight gain followed a parabolic law above 1,000°C, but it deviated from the law at 900 and 950°C. Growth rates of ZrO2 layer and ZrO2+ stabilized α-phase were also parabolic above 1,…

Hyperfine fields and magnetic interactions in Heusler alloys

Le Dang Khoï、P. Veillet、I. A. Campbell1978-08-01Journal of Physics F Metal Physics

The authors have studied transition and noble metal site NMR spectra of stoichiometric, off-stoichiometric and substituted Heusler alloys. The hyperfine fields can be analysed consistently in terms of local and transferred contributions. The transferred fields are negative at near neighbour and second neighbour to a M…

Kinetic instabilities in first order phase transitions

Ronald Lovett、P. Ortoleva、John Ross1978-08-01The Journal of Chemical Physics

Linear stability analysis is used to show that an homogeneous system in the early ’’aging’’ stage of a first order phase transition is unstable to heterogeneous development. A detailed analysis appropriate to precipitation out of a solution is presented although only the most general features of a first order phase tr…

On the use of classical and conical diffraction mountings for xuv gratings

M. Nevière、D. Maystre、W. R. Hunter1978-08-01Journal of the Optical Society of America

A description is given of the properties of plane diffraction gratings used in conical diffraction. Formulas are given for computing the direction of the diffracted orders. Experiments were performed to investigate the behavior of gratings used on conical diffraction mountings. Comparisons made with classical diffract…

Color separation gratings

H. Dammann1978-08-01Applied Optics

Special phase gratings are described by means of which the red, green, and blue color components of colored objects are generated side by side around the optical axis in the image plane of a lens. An analysis of these color separation gratings is given, and theoretical and experimental results for some grating samples…

A uranium- and thorium-rich monazite from a South-Alpine pegmatite at Piona, Italy

C. M. Gramaccioli、Tom V. Segalstad1978-08-01American Mineralogist

A green pegmatite mineral from Piona, northern Italy, originally described as a phosphate of lanthanum and cerium, has unit-cell parameters a = 6.78, b = 6.96, c = 6.48A, ..beta.. = 103/sup 0/54', in agreement with monazite. However, the unusual character of this mineral with respect to ''ordinary'' monazite is eviden…

Effect of Molybdenum on the Pitting Potential of High Purity 18% Cr Ferritic Stainless Steels

J.R. Galvele、J. B. Lumsden、R. W. Staehle1978-08-01Journal of The Electrochemical Society

The anodic behavior of high purity 18% Cr ferritic stainless steels, with a content from 0 to 5% molybdenum, was studied in and in solutions. The studies were complemented by Auger electron spectroscopy analysis of the films in solutions. It was found that the effect of molybdenum on the pitting potential of these all…

Successive Phase Transitions in Ferroelectric NaNO2 and SC(NH2)2

Yoshihiro Ishibashi、Hiroyuki Shiba1978-08-01Journal of the Physical Society of Japan

The successive phase transitions from a prototype to an incommensurate phase and then to a commensurate phase are studied on the basis of a model thermodynamic potential where the instability of a one-dimensional representation is assumed. The model is suitable to a unified description of the phase transitions in SC(N…

Compton scattering in the presence of coherent electromagnetic radiation

Manoj Jain、N. Tzoar1978-08-01Physical Review A

J. S. Vrentas、J. L. Duda1978-08-01Journal of Applied Polymer Science
