Tuncer Çaykara、Şerife Şirin Alaslan2007-07-23Journal of Applied Polymer Science

Abstract Poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) beads with an average size of 350 μm were synthesized by suspension polymerization technique. The PGMA beads were first modified with iminodiacetonitrile (IDAN). Then, the IDAN‐modified beads were subsequently modified by hydroxylamine. The IDAN modification and the conversi…

Rabi Spin Oscillations Generated by Ultrasound in Solids

Carles Calero、Eugene M. Chudnovsky2007-07-23Physical Review Letters

It is shown that ultrasound in the gigahertz range can generate space-time Rabi oscillations between spin states of molecular magnets. We compute dynamics of the magnetization generated by surface acoustic waves and discuss conditions under which this novel quantum effect can be observed.

Stabilizing excited-state silicon nanoparticle by surface oxidation

Q.S. Li、R. Q. Zhang、Seong-O Lee 等 5 位作者2007-07-23Applied Physics Letters

Si–Si and Si–H bonds in small hydrogenated Si particles are known to readily dissociate upon photoexcitation, which hinders various optical applications of Si particles. The authors show that the Si core could be stabilized in the presence of double-bonded oxygen (SiO) on the surface, based on excited-state calculati…

Superior flexibility of super carbon nanotubes: Molecular dynamics simulations

Zhao Qin、Xi‐Qiao Feng、Jian Zou 等 5 位作者2007-07-23Applied Physics Letters

Molecular dynamics simulations have been performed to study the mechanical properties and deformation mechanisms of the so-called super carbon tubes (SCTs), a recently developed network material made by conjoined single- or multiwalled carbon nanotubes. It is found that such SCTs exhibit some unusual mechanical proper…

Design of bioinspired polymeric materials based on poly(D,L‐lactic acid) modifications towards improving its cytocompatibility

Xufeng Niu、Yanfeng Luo、Yanguang Li 等 6 位作者2007-07-23Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part A

To design novel bioinspired polymeric material, poly(D,L-lactic acid) (DL-PLA) was on the base and modified in the bulk. Firstly, maleic anhydride (MA) groups were introduced to the side chain of DL-PLA by the way of melting free radical copolymerization using benzoyl peroxide as an initiator. Then, to neutralize the…
