Preparation of Silicon Carbonitrides from an Organosilicon Polymer: I, Thermal Decomposition of the Cross‐linked Polysilazane

D. Bahloul、M. Pereira、P. Goursat 等 5 位作者1993-05-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

The conversion of a solid copolymer (ViSiHNH) x ─(MeSiHNH) y into a ceramic was studied in the 20–1450°C temperature range under different atmospheres (inert or oxidative). The ceramic yield, the ceramic composition, and the gaseous evolution directly depend on the heating rate, the pyrolysis atmosphere, and the durat…

High second-order nonlinearities induced in lead silicate glass by electron-beam irradiation

Peter G. Kazansky、A. Kamal、P. St. J. Russell1993-05-01Optics Letters

A new technique for inducing a large permanent second-order susceptibility in lead silicate glass is reported. The procedure involves implanting electrons by irradiating the glass with an electron beam. Second-order nonlinearities chi((2)) as high as 0.7 pm/V are obtained.

Electromigration characteristics of copper interconnects

J. Tao、N.W. Cheung、Chenming Hu1993-05-01IEEE Electron Device Letters

The electromigration characteristics of electroless plated copper interconnects have been investigated under DC and time-varying current stressing. A scheme for selected electroless Cu plating by using 150-AA Co as the seeding layer is reported. The Cu DC and pulse-DC lifetimes are found to be one and two orders of ma…

Interaction of lithotripter-generated shock waves with air bubbles

A. Philipp、M. Delius、C. Scheffczyk 等 5 位作者1993-05-01The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America

The shock wave-induced collapse and jet formation of pre-existing air bubbles at the focus of an extracorporeal shock wave lithotripter is investigated using high-speed photography. The experimentally obtained collapse time, ranging from 1 to 9 μs for bubbles with an initial radius R0 of 0.15 to 1.2 mm, agrees well wi…

Illite/smectite formation and potassium mass transfer during burial diagenesis of mudrocks; a study from the Texas Gulf Coast Paleocene-Eocene

David Awwiller1993-05-01Journal of Sedimentary Research

Abstract Mudrock samples from a well penetrating Eocene and Paleocene strata (1235-4455 m) of the Texas Gulf Coast have been studied to assess geochemical redistribution in mudrocks during burial diagenesis, and the mechanism by which detrital smectitic illite/smectite (I/S) is transformed into diagenetic illitic I/S.…

5‐Dimethylamino‐5′‐nitro‐2, 2′‐bithiophene—a New Dye with Pronounced Positive Solvatochromism

Franz Effenberger、Frank Würthner1993-05-01Angewandte Chemie International Edition in English

The exceptionally large positive solvatochromism of the title compound 1 spans almost the whole visible spectrum. The absorption maxima of 1 give an excellent correlation with the π* values of Kamlet and Taft, which makes it an ideal reference compound for a π* scale that is based on only one indicator dye.

Extended Jones matrix method II

Claire Gu、Pochi Yeh1993-05-01Journal of the Optical Society of America A

We derive an extended Jones matrix method to treat the transmission of light through birefringent networks, where the incident angle of light and the optical axis of the birefringent media are arbitrary. As an example, we employ the method to analyze the leakage problem of a twisted nematic liquid-crystal display and…

Dynamic simulations of flows of bubbly liquids at large Reynolds numbers

Ashok S. Sangani、A. K. Didwania1993-05-01Journal of Fluid Mechanics

Results of dynamic simulations of bubbles rising through a liquid are presented. The Reynolds number of the flow based on the radius and the terminal speed of bubbles is large compared to unity, and the Weber number, which is the ratio of inertial to surface tension forces, is small. It is assumed that the bubbles do…
