TEMPO-mediated, room temperature synthesis of pure CoO nanoparticles

Anna Lagunas、Antoni Mairata i Payeras、Ciril Jimeno 等 4 位作者2006-01-01Chemical Communications

Treatment of dicobalt octacarbonyl with TEMPO in THF at room temperature, in the presence of oleic acid as the sole additive, leads to the formation of monodisperse nanoparticles (ca. 3.0 nm diameter) of CoO; the particles agglomerate in solution at room temperature into aggregates, and this property has been used for…

Micropatterned polymer surfaces improve retention of endothelial cells exposed to flow-induced shear stress

Sachin C. Daxini、Jason W. Nichol、Alisha L. Sieminski 等 6 位作者2006-01-01Biorheology

The use of synthetic polymeric vascular grafts is limited by the thrombogenecity of most biomaterials. Efforts to reduce thrombogenicity by seeding grafts with endothelial cells, the natural non-thrombogenic lining of blood vessels, have been thwarted by flow-induced cell detachment. We hypothesized that by creating w…

Ishida, Akira、Morio Sato、Kazuyuki Ogawa2006-01-01Philosophical Magazine Letters

The structure and shape-memory behavior of Ti51.5Ni33.1Cu15.4 amorphous films, prepared by sputtering and annealed at 773, 873 and 973 K for 1 h, have been investigated. The microstructure of the thin films evolved in the following sequence as a function of the annealing temperature: (1) plate precipitates of Guinier–…

Nanostructured Solar Cells for High Efficiency Photovoltaics

Christiana B. Honsberg、Allen Barnett、Douglas Kirkpatrick2006-01-01OpenAlex

The use of nanostructures in photovoltaics offers the potential for high efficiency by either using new physical mechanisms or by allowing solar cells which have efficiencies closer to their theoretical maximum, for example by tailoring material properties. At the same time, nanostructures have potentially low fabrica…

Nanoscale Void Nucleation and Growth in the Passive Oxide on Aluminum as a Prepitting Process

Kevin R. Zavadil、James Anthony Ohlhausen、Paul G. Kotula2006-01-01Journal of The Electrochemical Society

Nanometer scale morphological changes in the passive oxide on aluminum have been tracked as a function of polarization in aqueous chloride and borate electrolytes. Nanoscale void formation has been detected and characterized in the passive oxide on single and polycrystalline Al as well as nanocrystalline Al films. Voi…

High Thermal Conductive Resin Composites with Controlled Nanostructures for Electric Devices

K. Fukushima、Hiroyuki Takahashi、Yoshitaka Takezawa 等 6 位作者2006-01-01IEEJ Transactions on Fundamentals and Materials

We studied certain kinds of diepoxy monomers, with so-called `mesogens'- molecular groups that cause self-ordering - and cured them with appropriate curing agents. Their thermal conductivities were up to 5 times higher than those of conventional epoxy resins. We believe that the mesogens formed nanoscopic high-order s…

K. Dörr、C. Thiele2006-01-01physica status solidi (b)

Abstract Isostructural ferromagnetic and ferroelectric perovskites like manganites (La,A)MnO 3 and titanates Pb(Zr,Ti)O 3 are favourable candidates for layered film structures with large magnetoelectric coupling phenomena. Manganites (La,A)MnO 3 have already been intensively investigated: conduction electrons have a h…

Grain Size and Piezoelectric Properties of (Ba, K, Na)NbO3 Lead-Free Ceramics

Shinjiro Tashiro、K. Ishii2006-01-01Journal of the Ceramic Society of Japan

Grain size and piezoelectric properties were investigated in (K, Na)NbO3 ceramics substituted with Ba for K and Na by 1 to 5 mol%, in anticipation of high piezoelectric properties. The grain size strongly depended on the A/B ratio in perovskite structure. The grain growth phenomenon was markedly similar to that of BaT…

Morphology templating of nanofibrous silica through pH-sensitive gels: “in situ” and “post-diffusion” strategies

Guillaume Roy、Juan F. Miravet、Beatriu Escuder 等 5 位作者2006-01-01Journal of Materials Chemistry

A pH-sensitive pyridine-based gelator has been found as a flexible and efficient template for the transcription of nanofibrous silica. The morphology and aggregation degree of silica nanofibers and nanotubes (30–60 nm thick, with 3–10 nm inner channels) could be tuned by simply adjusting the pH conditions through the…

Physiological Comfort of BiofunctionalTextiles

Volkmar T. Bartels2006-01-01Current Problems in Dermatology

Statistics show that the wear comfort is the most important property of clothing demanded by users and consumers. Hence, biofunctional textiles only have a high market potential, if they are comfortable. In this work it is shown how the thermophysiological and skin sensorial wear comfort of biofunctional textiles can…
