Redox-Active Nanotubes of Vanadium Oxide

Michael E. Spahr、Petra Bitterli、Reinhard Nesper 等 6 位作者1998-05-18OpenAlex

nanotubes (shown on the right) are obtained as the main product of a direct chemical synthesis at relatively low temperatures. The multiwalled material contains template molecules between the individual shells, which by a simple cation exchange can be removed without destruction of the tubes.

Eduardo Hernández、C. Goze、P. Bernier 等 4 位作者1998-05-18arXiv

We present a comparative study of the energetic, structural, and elastic properties of carbon and composite single-wall nanotubes, including BN, ${\mathrm{BC}}_{3}$, and ${\mathrm{BC}}_{2}\mathrm{N}$ nanotubes, using a nonorthogonal tight-binding formalism. Our calculations predict that carbon nanotubes have a higher…

Macromonomeric azo initiator containing biodegradable poly(ε-caprolactone, (PCL) was synthesized by the condensation reaction of PCL with 4,4′-azobis(4-cyanopentanoyl chloride) and methacryloyl chloride. This macromonomeric azo initiator (MIM–PCL) was further used in the polymerization of styrene (St) or methylmethacr…

Flame-retardant properties of phenol-formaldehyde-type resins and triphenyl phosphate in styrene-acrylonitrile copolymers

Laura Pires da Mata Costa、L. Rossi Di Montelera、G. Camino 等 5 位作者1998-05-16Journal of Applied Polymer Science

The thermal and flame-retardant properties of phenol–formaldehyde-type resins (crosslinked and noncrosslinked) in mixtures with triphenyl phosphate and styrene–acrylonitrile resins were evaluated. The mixtures show a synergistic effect between triphenyl phosphate and novolacs. Those containing phenol–formaldehyde novo…

Nanocrystalline Aluminum Nitride and Aluminum/Gallium Nitride Nanocomposites via Transamination of [M(NMe2)3]2, M = Al, Al/Ga (1/1)

Jerzy F. Janik、Richard L. Wells、Jeffery L. Coffer 等 6 位作者1998-05-16Chemistry of Materials

Reactions of [Al(NMe 2 ) 3 ] 2 with NH 3, mimicking the case of the related Ga-derivative, provided an Al−amide−imide precursor that was pyrolyzed to pure nanocrystalline AlN. Based on that chemistry, a mixed Al/Ga precursor system was designed to lead to the bimetallic nitride composites. A prototype study included e…

Broom fibers as reinforcing materials for polypropylene-based composites

Maurizio Avella、Luca Casale、Ramiro Dell’Erba 等 6 位作者1998-05-16Journal of Applied Polymer Science

Broom fibers have been used as reinforcement for the conventional polypropylene (iPP) and a maleate modified one (iPPMA). A conventional alkaline treatment and a steam explosion extraction process were applied to obtain the cellulosic material from broom branches. Composites were prepared by melt mixing materials with…

The effect of grain size on magnetic properties in Sm2Fe17Nx

Jeffrey E. Shield、D.J. Branagan、C. P. Li 等 4 位作者1998-05-15Journal of Applied Physics

The microstructures of melt spun Sm11Fe89 and (Sm11Fe89)94Ti3C3 have been investigated under different solidification conditions. The magnetic properties of the nitrided materials have been related to the observed microstructures. Melt spinning of the Sm11Fe89 alloys resulted in grain sizes at or above the single doma…

Spectral selectivity of cermets with large metallic inclusions

Camilo A. Arancibia‐Bulnes、J. C. Ruiz‐Suárez1998-05-15Journal of Applied Physics

In order to address the problem of the optical reflectance of cermets beyond the quasistatic dipolar limit, we consider Monte Carlo multiple scattering simulations as well as a radiative transfer study. Slabs of alumina with inclusions of Cu, Au, Co and Cr are studied; reflectance coefficients are calculated as a func…

Nondestructive determination of the C13 content in isotopic diamond by nuclear resonance fluorescence

Olof Beck、T. Ruf、Y. Finkelstein 等 14 位作者1998-05-15Journal of Applied Physics

Nuclear resonance fluorescence excited with continuous electron bremsstrahlung from the 4.3 MV Stuttgart Dynamitron accelerator is used as a nondestructive method to determine the C13 content x of bulk isotopic diamonds (12C1−x13Cx). The smallest detectable amount of C13 in carbon or low Z matrices is on the order of…

The dimer model for κ-phase organic superconductors

G Visentini、A Painelli、A Girlando 等 4 位作者1998-05-15Europhysics Letters (EPL)

We prove that the upper electronic bands of κ-phase BEDT-TTF salts are adequately modeled by a tight-binding lattice with one site per cell. The band parameters are derived from recent ab initio calculations, getting a very simple but extremely accurate one-electron picture. This picture allows us to solve the BCS gap…

Barbara Coluzzi、Giorgio Parisi1998-05-15Journal of Physics A Mathematical and General

In this paper we apply some theoretical predictions that arise in the mean-field framework for a large class of infinite-range models to structural glasses and we present a first comparison of these predictions with numerical results. We find evidence for the energy density relaxation at low temperatures consisting of…
