Structure of a rapidly formed intermediate in ribonuclease T1 folding

Thomas Kiefhaber、Franz X. Schmid、K. Willaert 等 5 位作者1992-09-01Protein Science

Kinetic intermediates in protein folding are short-lived and therefore difficult to detect and to characterize. In the folding of polypeptide chains with incorrect isomers of Xaa-Pro peptide bonds the final rate-limiting transition to the native state is slow, since it is coupled to prolyl isomerization. Incorrect pro…

Thermal Transformation of X ‐Alumina Formed by Thermal Decomposition of Aluminum Alkoxide in Organic Media

Masashi Inoue、Hiroshi Kominami、Tomoyuki Inui1992-09-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

Thermal decomposition of aluminum sec ‐alkoxide in inert organic solvents at 300°C yielded a product composed of agglomerates of 4‐ to 20‐nm particles having the χ‐alumina structure. The χ‐alumina was stable and maintained a surface area above 100 m 2 /g until its transformation at 1150°C to α‐alumina.

Preparation and Properties of Clays Pillared with SiO2–TiO2 Sol Particles

Shōji Yamanaka、Yasushi Inoue、Makoto Hattori 等 5 位作者1992-09-01Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan

Abstract The silicate layers of montmorillonite clay were pillared with SiO2–TiO2 sol particles. Although only the SiO2 sols were negatively charged, the SiO2–TiO2 mixed oxide sols were positively charged and could be ion-exchanged with the interlayer cations of montmorillonite. The resulting pillared clays had a basa…

The effect of tetrahedral substitution of Si by Al on the surface acidity of the oxygen plane of clay minerals

Shmuel Yariv1992-09-01International Reviews in Physical Chemistry

Oxygen planes of clay minerals are formed by a continuous linkage of [SiO4]4- tetrahedra. This plane determines many of the clay colloidal and surface properties. The dπ-pπ bond between O and Si in Si-O-Si and Si-O-Al groups is described here according to the valence bond treatment. Partial π interaction between O and…

Antibody-mediated specific binding and cytotoxicity of liposome-entrapped doxorubicin to lung cancer cells in vitro.

Imran Ahmad、Theresa M. Allen1992-09-01PubMed

Liposome entrapment of doxorubicin has been shown to reduce its cardiotoxicity in vivo and increase its therapeutic index. A further improvement in therapeutic index could be achieved through targeting of liposome-entrapped drug selectively to cancer cells. Monoclonal antibodies against the squamous lung cancer cell l…

Tanguy Rouxel、Fumihiro Wakai、Kansei Izaki1992-09-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

Si 3 N 4 /SiC composites are ceramic materials that exhibit excellent performance for high‐temperature applications. Prepared from an ultrafine amorphous Si‐C‐N powder, sintered materials are constituted mainly of a β ‐Si 3 N 4 matrix with SiC inclusions and have a very small grain size (less than 1 μm). Stoner-Wohlfarth hysteresis model with stochastic input as a model of viscosity in magnetic materials

Gary Friedman、I.D. Mayergoyz1992-09-01IEEE Transactions on Magnetics

The Stoner-Wohlfarth hysteresis model with stochastic input is used to describe viscosity or creep in magnetic materials. An expression for the expected value of the magnetic moment of Stoner-Wohlfarth particles as a function of time is derived. It is found that this expected value for each particle decays exponential…
