Matrix Isolation Infrared Spectroscopic and Density Functional Study of the Mechanism of the Oxidation of CH3OH by CrCl2O2

Bruce S. Ault1998-06-01Journal of the American Chemical Society

The matrix isolation technique has been employed to isolate several intermediates, in sequence, in the oxidation of CH 3 OH by CrCl 2 O 2 . Consistent with previous theoretical calculations, a hydrogen-bonded complex formed initially after twin jet deposition and was enhanced by matrix annealing to 33 K. This complex…

Gadolinium-based linear polymer with temperature-independent proton relaxivities: a unique interplay between the water exchange and rotational contributions

Éva Tóth、Ingrid van Uffelen、Lothar Helm 等 7 位作者1998-06-01Magnetic Resonance in Chemistry

Macromolecular complexes of Gd(III) chelates are widely investigated as MRI contrast agents. In addition to the potential increase in relaxivity, they have a further advantage over the Gd(III) chelates of an extended lifetime in the blood pool, which is necessary for magnetic resonance angiography applications. When d…

In this article, we report the investigation of sputtered magnesium as a suitable photoelectron emitter in a rf injector. The measurements were conducted on a 20 μm thick Mg layer, ion sputtered on a copper substrate. UV laser induced damage threshold measurements on this sample indicate that laser energy densities of…

XiaoMin Yang、Donald A. Tryk、Kazuhito Hashimoto 等 4 位作者1998-06-01The Journal of Physical Chemistry B

The present work is the first report of the use of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) for two-dimensionally spatially resolved, chemically selective monitoring of the course of a surface-catalyzed photoreaction. We have recently developed the surface-enhanced Raman imaging (SERI) technique, which is chemically s…

Electronic Structures and Optical Properties of GeTe and Ge 2Sb 2Te 5

Shozo Yamanaka、Shuichiro Ogawa、Isao Morimoto 等 4 位作者1998-06-01Japanese Journal of Applied Physics

The optical properties of GeTe and Ge 2 Sb 2 Te 5 have been studied by means of the density functional theory (DFT) in the local density approximation (LDA). The electronic band structures were obtained by two methods, the plane wave (PW) and spherical wave (SW) expansions of the wave functions. GeTe was calculated to…

Tunable Radiationless Energy Transfer in Eu[Au(CN) 2 ] 3 ·3H 2 O by High Pressure

Hartmut Yersin、Dietrich Trümbach、Johann Strasser 等 5 位作者1998-06-01Inorganic Chemistry

The title compound consists of two-dimensional layers of [Au(CN) 2 ] - complexes alternating with layers of Eu 3+ ions. Due to this structure type, the lowest electronic transitions of the dicyanoaurates(I) exhibit an extreme red shift of Δν̄ max /Δ p = −130 ± 10 cm - 1 /kbar under high-pressure application at least u…

We report on the synthesis of Ti-containing diamondlike hydrocarbon (Ti-DLC) coatings by plasma-assisted physical vapor deposition and the characterization of coating microstructure and mechanical properties. We find that Ti-DLC coatings with Ti compositions higher than 5.5 at. % are composites consisting of nanocryst…

Modelling Dislocation-Induced Anisotropic Line Broadening in Rietveld Refinements Using a Voigt Function. I. General Principles

E. Wu、Evan Gray、Erich H. Kisi1998-06-01Journal of Applied Crystallography

The theory of dislocation-induced X-ray or neutron diffraction line broadening developed by Krivoglaz et al. and Wilkens has been adapted for Rietveld refinement of the powder diffraction profile by fitting a Voigt function to each peak. Information on both the type of slip system and the density of dislocations in th…

Low-Voltage Cathodoluminescent Phosphors

L. E. Shea1998-06-01The Electrochemical Society Interface

Phosphors have been used for the display of information since the invention of the cathode-ray tube (CRT) by Karl Ferdinand Braun in 1897. With the development of color television, an effort spanning approximately 30 years, came the most significant advances in phosphor technology. The most noteworthy was the shift to…

Prediction of Magnetic Properties in Oxovanadium(IV) Phosphates: The Role of the Bridging PO4 Anions

Manuel Roca、Pedro Amorós、Joan Cano 等 7 位作者1998-06-01Inorganic Chemistry

Oxovanadium phosphates constitute a crystallochemically very rich family that, in turn, results in a seemingly intricate magnetochemistry including from isolated dimers to 3-D systems. This magnetic diversity is due, in part, to the possible participation of phosphate groups in the spin transfer between V IV centers.…
