Raman Spectroscopy of Higher Titanate Phases in the BaTiO 3 ‐TiO 2 System

Jafar Javadpour、N.G. Eror1988-04-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

Polytitanates in the BaO‐TiO 2 system with Ba: Ti ratios ranging from 1:2 to 1:5 were prepared employing the liquid mix technique. The samples were heated at 600° to 1300°C in oxygen, and Raman spectroscopy was used to investigate the phase relations in the system. The powders of various compounds were amorphous at te…

Preparation of Size-Controlled CdS Colloids in Water and Their Optical Properties

Yoshio Nosaka、Katsuhiko Yamaguchi、Hajime Miyama 等 4 位作者1988-04-01Chemistry Letters

Abstract Size of colloidal CdS particles in aqueous medium was controlled by adding thiols in the procedure of the preparation. The change in optical absorption spectra and the quantum yield of photoinduced electron transfer were measured for these size-controlled CdS colloids.

Shinji Takeda、Hiromi Akiyama、Hiroshi Kakiuchi1988-04-01Journal of Applied Polymer Science

Abstract New bismaleimides containing ether bonds were prepared. The thermal properties of the bismaleimides were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The effects of structure of the bismaleimides and curing conditions on the thermal and mechanical properties of the cured resins such as initial dec…

Triple-line disclinations representations, continuity and reactions

W. Bollmann1988-04-01Philosophical magazine. A/Philosophical magazine. A. Physics of condensed matter. Structure, defects and mechanical properties

In a polycrystalline material it is usual for three grains, and therefore three grain boundaries, to meet on a line, the ‘triple line’. Since grain boundaries can be interpreted as dislocation networks, a question arises about the dislocation balance at the triple line. It is shown that, if the dislocation balance is…

Kinetics and Mechanisms of High‐Temperature Creep in Silicon Carbide: III, Sintered α‐Silicon Carbide

J.E. Lane、C.H. Carter、R. F. Davis1988-04-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

The operative and controlling mechanisms of steady‐state creep in sintered α‐SiC have been determined both from kinetic data within the ranges of temperature and constant compressive stress of 1670 to 2073 K and 138 to 414 MPa, respectively, and from the results of extensive TEM and other analytical analyses. Dislocat…

Thermochromism, Photochromism and Anomalous Temperature Dependence of Luminescence in Poly(3-Alkylthiophene) Film

Katsumi Yoshino、Shigeaki Nakajima、Dae Hee Park 等 4 位作者1988-04-01Japanese Journal of Applied Physics

Thermochromism and anomalous temperature dependence of emission spectra have been observed in poly(3-alkylthiophene) films, and are explained in terms of the transition of poly(3-alkylthiophene) conformation. The spectral change by laser irradiation and its memory have also been confirmed. The application of this phen…

Compatibilizer‐aided toughening in polymer blends consisting of brittle polymer particles dispersed in a ductile polymer matrix

Juan C. Angola、Yuji Fujita、Tetsuya Sakai 等 4 位作者1988-04-01Journal of Polymer Science Part B Polymer Physics

Abstract Blending brittle polymer particles in a ductile polymer matrix is a new way to obtain toughened plastics. Although the nylon‐6/poly(acrylonitrile‐co‐styrene) (SAN) system is a ductile/brittle combination, the blend does not result in a toughened plastic. We have investigated the effect of adding a small amoun…

Defect Structure and Electrical Properties of Single‐Crystal Ba 0.03 Sr 0.97 TiO 3

Gyeong Man Choi、Harry L. Tuller1988-04-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

The electrical conductivity and thermoelectric power of single‐crystalline Ba 0.03 Sr 0.97 TiO 3 were measured over a wide temperature (800° to 1100°C) and oxygen partial pressure (10 5 to 10 ‐15 Pa) range. Our experimental data, like those of previous workers on nominally undoped BaTiO 3 or SrTiO 3 , support a defect…

Calorimetric studies of the phase transition in iodoform

Juliana Boerio‐Goates、Brian F. Woodfield1988-04-01Canadian Journal of Chemistry

The heat capacity of crystalline iodoform prepared by vacuum sublimination has been measured from 50 to 340 K and that of iodoform prepared by recrystallization from acetone measured from 120 to 300 K. Both samples exhibit a phase transition near 260 K. The heat capacity anomaly in the sublimed material shows several…

Ionic conductivity of pure and doped sodium chloride crystals

Irene E. Hooton、P. W. M. Jacobs1988-04-01Canadian Journal of Chemistry

New measurements are reported for the ionic conductivity of well-annealed crystals of pure NaCl, NaCl doped with Sr 2+ ions, and NaCl doped with S 2− ions. Analysis of these data leads to the conclusions (i) that the Schottky defect model is entirely adequate for NaCl (in contrast to KCl); and (ii) that the activation…

Corrosion Protection of Oilfield Steel with 1‐Phenyl‐2‐Propyn‐1‐Ol

F. B. Growcock、V. R. Lopp、Raymond Jasinski1988-04-01Journal of The Electrochemical Society

1‐Phenyl‐2‐propyn‐1‐ol (1‐PPO) is a very efficient corrosion inhibitor for oilfield steel in hydrochloric acid. With a suitable surfactant, 1‐PPO can impart >99% protection to API J55 steel in 15% at 65°C for 24h. Chemical analyses of the products formed on the steel surface and in solution indicate that 1‐PPO reacts…

Learned Peak Shape Functions for Powder Diffraction Data

Alexander Hepp、Ch. Baerlocher1988-04-01Australian Journal of Physics

An algorithm is described for the determination of an experimental (learned) peak shape function, which has been used succesfully in crystal structure refinements from powder data. The function gives an optimal fit to almost any peak shape since it is not based on an analytical expression. It is determined from a sing…
