Bikram Bhatia、J. Karthik、Trong Tong 等 6 位作者2012-11-15Journal of Applied Physics

We report pyroelectric current measurements on 150 nm thick PbZr0.2Ti0.8O3 (PZT) epitaxial films using frequency-domain thermal measurements over the range 0.02 Hz–1.3 MHz. The measured pyroelectric currents are proportional to the rate of temperature change, from ∼10−5 A/m2 to ∼103 A/m2 over the range 10−2 to 106 K/s…

Technetium Chemistry in the Fuel Cycle: Combining Basic and Applied Studies

Frédéric Poineau、Edward Mausolf、Gordon D. Jarvinen 等 5 位作者2012-11-15Inorganic Chemistry

Technetium is intimately linked with nuclear reactions. The ultraminute natural levels in the environment are due to the spontaneous fission of uranium isotopes. The discovery of technetium was born from accelerator reactions, and its use and presence in the modern world are directly due to nuclear reactors. While occ…

Abstract 1,3‐Dimethyldisiloxane, O(SiH 2 Me) 2 , diethyl ether, OEt 2 , and their metal complexes (Li + ,Ag + ) have been used as model systems to uncover the reasons underlying the lower Lewis basicity of siloxanes compared to analogous ethers. Bonding in the metal complexes has been analyzed with quantum theory of a…

Using an Au interlayer to enhance electron field emission properties of ultrananocrystalline diamond films

Huang-Chin Chen、Kamatchi Jothiramalingam Sankaran、Shen‐Chuan Lo 等 7 位作者2012-11-15Journal of Applied Physics

We observe that an Au interlayer markedly enhances the electrical field emission (EFE) properties of ultrananocrystalline diamond (UNCD) films on Si substrates. The EFE properties of UNCD/Au/Si films can be turned on at a lower field and attain a higher current density than in UNCD films grown on Si substrates without…

Continuous X-ray diffractive field in protein nanocrystallography

Ruben A. Dilanian、Victor A. Streltsov、Harry M. Quiney 等 4 位作者2012-11-15Acta Crystallographica Section A Foundations of Crystallography

The recent development of X-ray free-electron laser sources has created new opportunities for the structural analysis of protein nanocrystals. The extremely small sizes of the crystals, as well as imperfections of the crystal structure, result in an interference phenomenon in the diffraction pattern. With decreasing c…

We report the fabrication technique and optical properties of multilayered two-dimensional (2D) gold nanoparticle sheets ("Au nanosheet"). The 2D crystalline monolayer sheet composed of Au nanoparticles shows an absorption peak originating from a localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR). It was found that the absorp…

A dimensionless numerical analysis for the optimization of an active magnetic regenerative refrigerant cycle

Ciro Aprea、Adriana Greco、Angelo Maiorino2012-11-15International Journal of Energy Research

Refrigeration by an active magnetic regenerative system (AMR) is potentially more attractive, as compared to conventional techniques. Indeed, devices based upon an AMR cycle are more efficient, compact, environment-friendly and can operate over a broad range of temperatures. In this paper, attention is focused to the…

Enhanced oxygen diffusion in epitaxial lanthanum–strontium–cobaltite thin film cathodes for micro solid oxidefuel cells

Ho‐Il Ji、Jaeyeon Hwang、Kyung Joong Yoon 等 7 位作者2012-11-15Energy & Environmental Science

The chemical diffusion coefficient (Dchem) of epitaxial LSC thin films was measured by a newly designed conductivity relaxation method. Dchem of epitaxial thin films was found to be higher than that of bulk LSC by up to two orders of magnitude, and was found to be enhanced further as the film became thinner.
