X-Ray crystal structures of bis-(2-mercapto-4′-methylazobenzene)nickel( II ) and bis-(2-hydroxy-4′-methylazobenzene)nickel( II ): five-membered metallocycle in the former complex

O.A. Dyachenko、L. O. Atovmyan、Sergei M. Aldoshin1975-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Chemical Communications

X-Ray structural data for the bis-azobenzene-nickel(II) complexes (I) and (II) show that the donor atom X influences the size of the metallocycle and the bonding arrangement around nickel; in (I)(X = S) the metallocycle is five-membered, whereas in (II)(X = O) it is six-membered.

The precipitation of basic nickel carbonate powders from aqueous solution. Crystallite numbers, composition and final sizes

A. Packter、S. C. Uppaladinni1975-01-01Kristall und Technik

Abstract The precipitation of basic nickel carbonate hydrates was studied from nickel sulphate solutions (concentrations 0.05 M to 1 M) at 96°C, by addition of sodium carbonate, bicarbonate‐carbonate and bicarbonate solutions. Precipitate compositions were determined by chemical analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, d…

Mechanism of insulator flashover under artificial rain

F.A.M. Rizk1975-01-01Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers

The paper gives a brief description of the variation of insulation-surface conductance under artificial rain from dry conditions until steady-state wetting is achieved. The effect of wetting on insulator voltage distribution is examined. Wet flashover tests with alternating voltage and switching impulses of both polar…

Induced anisotropy of thermal conductivity of polymer solids under large strains

S. T. J. Peng、Robert F. Landel1975-01-01Journal of Applied Polymer Science

Abstract A simple analytical form of induced anisotropy of heat conductivity k ij (λ 1 ,λ 2 λ 3 , T ) of initially isotropic polymer solids results from employing the simplified theory of the three‐chain model of the non‐Gaussian network. The analytical form appears to be valid up to a stretch ratio of λ = 2.65, which…

The Far Infrared Spectra and X-Ray Powder Diffraction Patterns of the Structure I Hydrates of Cyclopropane and Ethylene Oxide at 100 °K

John E. Bertie、Frances E. Bates、David K. Hendricksen1975-01-01Canadian Journal of Chemistry

This paper presents the far-infrared spectrum and X-ray powder diffraction pattern of the structure I hydrate of cyclopropane at 100 °K, and the powder diffraction pattern of the isostructural ethylene oxide hydrate at 100 °K. Between 360 and 100 cm −1 the absorption by cyclopropane hydrate is essentially identical to…

The Constitution of Copper–Samarium Alloys

Karin Kuhn、A.J. Perry1975-01-01Metal Science

This study of the Cu–Sm phase diagram has established that there are two congruent phases, CU6Sm and CU2Sm and three peritectic phases, CU5Sm, CU4Sm and CuSm. Eutectic reactions occur at 9 at.-% Sm:882° C, 28 at.-% Sm: 818° C, and 71 at.% Sm:597° C.

The crystal structure of stellerite

Ermanno Galli、Alberto Alberti1975-01-01Bulletin de la Société française de Minéralogie et de Cristallographie

The crystal structure of the zeolite stellerite has been studied by X-ray methods : space group Fmmm with a = 13.599, b = 18.222, c = 17.863 (Å). The framework of stellerite is topologically the same as stilbite ; its content of exchangeable cations allows the highest symmetry compatible with the framework. An explana…

Vibrational spectra of fluoranil. (2, 3, 5, 6-Tetrafluoro-p-benzoquinone)

Alberto Girlando、C. Pecile1975-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Faraday Transactions 2 Molecular and Chemical Physics

Infra-red and Raman spectra of fluoranil are presented for the first time. A complete assignment of intramolecular fundamentals is achieved mainly on the basis of oriented crystal and vapour spectra in infra-red and of solutions in Raman spectroscopy. A simplified Valence Force Field is used to repodurce the in-plane…

Electron Paramagnetic Resonance and X-ray Studies of the Phase Transformation in Pb 3 P 2 O 8

H. N. Ng、C. Calvo1975-01-01Canadian Journal of Physics

The compound Pb 3 P 2 O 8 has a low temperature monoclinic phase with space group C2/c and a high temperature phase with space group [Formula: see text], both with two crystallographically inequivalent cationic sites. X-ray data taken at five temperatures have indicated that an F-centered monoclinic cell is developed…

Atomic short range order in CuFe alloys

S. J. Campbell、T J Hicks1975-01-01Journal of Physics F Metal Physics

The clustering of iron atoms in a copper matrix, as determined by earlier Mossbauer effect studies on alloys containing up to 3.1 at.% Fe, has been analysed in terms of the atomic short range order parameter alpha 1 . Good agreement is found between the experimental and calculated values of the clustering in groups of…

Effect of Aging and Irradiation on the Corrosion of Zr-2.5 Wt% Nb

V.F. Urbanic、J.E. LeSurf、A.B. Johnson1975-01-01CORROSION

In the absence of radiation the corrosion of quenched, cold worked and aged Zr-2.5 Wt% Nb in 280 C (536 F) pressurized water decreases with increasing aging time and temperature. Under neutron irradiation the corrosion in all aged conditions is much less, and no dependence on prior aging is discernible. The corrosion…

Laticifers in Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn.: Distribution and Structure

Katherine Esau、Hatsume Kosakai1975-01-01Annals of Botany

The laticifers of Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn. (Nelumbonaceae) occur in vascular bundles and separately from these in the ground parenchyma. In common with laticifers in some other plants, they pass through a stage when they contain numerous small vacuoles, or vesicles, which later merge with the central vacuole. Osmiophi…

Teizō Tabata、Kazumasa Takagi、Hiroshi Fujita1975-01-01Transactions of the Japan Institute of Metals

The grain size effect on the apparent yield and flow stresses up to 20% strain has been investigated in polycrystalline copper and Cu–Al alloys of various grain sizes at 77 and 293 K.The apparent yield stress satisfies the Hall-Petch relation in all specimens. In copper, however, the flow stresses cannot be expressed…
