Attempted preparation of diamond-like carbon nitride by explosive shock compression of poly(methineimine)

Tamikuni Komatsu1998-01-01Journal of Materials Chemistry

Explosive shock compression of poly(methineimine) produced a large portion of amorphous graphitic carbon nitride of composition CN 0.2 and small amounts of diamond-like carbon containing a slight amount of nitrogen. Codeposition of the two materials suggests the possibility of cubic phase transformation of heterocycli…

The kinetics of the electron transfer self-exchange reaction [Fe3O(O2CCMe3)6(py)3]+ + [Fe3O(O2CCMe3)6(py)3] ⇄ [Fe3O(O2CCMe3)6(py)3] + [Fe3O(O2CCMe3)6(py)3]+ have been measured by NMR line broadening. Both reactants are paramagnetic and it was possible to measure broadening of lines of each component by exchange with t…

Gibbsite (α-Al(OH)3) by XPS

John A. Rotole、Peter M. A. Sherwood1998-01-01Surface Science Spectra

The XPS spectra of Gibbsite were collected with a VSW HA150 using monochromatic Al Kα x-radiation. Monochromatic radiation provides a distinct clarity to the peak structure in the valence band of Gibbsite due to the absence of interfering x-ray satellites from the intense O 2s region. Variations in the intensities and…

Interactions of evaporated aluminum atoms with polyaniline films: An x-ray photoelectron spectroscopic study

S. L. Lim、K. L. Tan、E. T. Kang1998-01-01Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology A Vacuum Surfaces and Films

X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy was employed for the in situ study of the interactions between thermally deposited Al atoms and polyaniline films of different intrinsic oxidation states. Quantitative changes in the N 1s core-level line shape, the evolution of the Al 2p core-level spectra, and the changes in surface s…

Flow behavior of soda-lime glass at high pressures and high shear rates

Senthilarasu Sundaram、R. J. Clifton1998-01-01AIP conference proceedings

Results are reported for a plate impact investigation of the flow behavior of soda-lime glass. A 5 μm thick layer of soda-lime glass is sandwiched between two hard, elastic Hampden steel plates and impacted by another steel plate. The impact is skewed with respect to the direction of travel of the flyer plate in order…

R. J. Clifton、M. Mello、N. S. Brar1998-01-01AIP conference proceedings

By means of in-material stress gauges, failure waves in shock-compressed soda lime glass have been shown to be distinguished by a marked reduction in shear stress. To explore further the relation between failure waves and shearing resistance, a series of pressure-shear impact experiments have been performed involving…
