Thomas Riemer、D. Spielbauer、Michael Hunger 等 5 位作者1994-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Chemical Communications

Large 1H chemical shifts are suggestive of protonic superacidity of sulfated zirconia catalysts, this property being related to the structure of surface sulfate species.

Adsorption on MCM-41 mesoporous molecular sieves. Part 1.—Nitrogen isotherms and parameters of the porous structure

Jiřı́ Rathouský、Arnošt Zukal、O. Franke 等 4 位作者1994-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Faraday Transactions

Nitrogen adsorption isotherms have been measured on a series of aluminosilicate and titanosilicate MCM-41 Molecular sieves, whose mean pore radius varied from ca. 0.9 to ca. 2 nm. By means of comparison plots the nature of the adsorption on these materials was found to depend strongly on their pore size. With pores of…

Electrosteric stabilisation of colloidal zirconia with low-molecular-weight polyacrylic acid. An atomic force microscopy study

Simon Biggs、Thomas W. Healy1994-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Faraday Transactions

The adsorption of low-molecular-weight polyacrylic acid (Mr= 2000) on zirconia has been studied as a function of pH. In this study, an atomic force microscope (AFM) was used to monitor directly the changes in polymer conformation at the solid/water interface. Force–distance profiles were obtained at AFM scan rates equ…

Do diatoms arrest embryonic development in cope-pods?

S. A. Poulet、A lanora、Antonio Miralto 等 4 位作者1994-01-01Marine Ecology Progress Series

Evidence is presented on the harmful impact of a diatom (Thalassiosira rotula) on the reproductive biology of the copepod Calanus helgolan&cus. When adult females were fed the &atom, both total egg production and hatching success were significantly lower than with the dinoflagellate Prorocentrum minimum. Embryonic dev…

Mechanism of Photostimulated Luminescence Process in BaFBr:Eu2+Phosphors

Y. Iwabuchi、Nobufumi Mori、Kenji Takahashi 等 4 位作者1994-01-01Japanese Journal of Applied Physics

The formation of photostimulated luminescence (PSL) centers in BaFBr:Eu 2+ single-crystal phosphors is studied in the 5–9 eV vacuum ultraviolet region. The centers are efficiently formed by the Eu 2+ photoionization absorption at 6.6 eV. The PSL excitation spectrum after the photoionization excitation is almost the sa…

Viscosity and Yield Stress of Alumina Slurries Containing Large Concentrations of Electrolyte

Jeanne C. Chang、Fred F. Lange、Dale S. Pearson1994-01-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

Viscosity and yield stress measurements of A1 2 O 3 slurries containing high concentrations of electrolyte are reported. Contrary to what is expected from DLVO theory, the particles in coagulated slurries produced in this way are held together by weaker forces than particles in slurries brought to the isoelectric poin…

Self-assembled supramolecular rigid rods

Mitsuharu Kotera、Jean‐Marie Lehn、Jean‐Pierre Vigneron1994-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Chemical Communications

The self-assembly of the complementary components AP2 and AU2, through hydrogen bonding via uracil and 2,6-diacylaminopyridine groups, yields polymeric supramolecular rigid rods (AP2, AU2)n that present a lyotropic mesophase.

Environmentally friendly vulcanization technology of natural rubber latex by radiation

K. Makuuchi1994-01-01Ecomaterials

A new technology to vulcanize natural rubber latex by radiation has been developed. Environmental advantages of the technology over conventional sulfur vulcanization are 1) absence of nitrosamines, 2) low emission of SO2 on combustion and 3) degradability in the environment. These advantages which come from the fact t…

Melting of graphite

Motohiro Togaya、Shin Sugiyama、E. Mizuhara1994-01-01AIP conference proceedings

The melting line of graphite has been investigated using a method of flash‐heating of small rod of graphite by discharging a bank of capacitors in a 6–8 anvil type high pressure apparatus. The changes of enthalpy of graphite up to the melting point were obtained from the heating energy inserted from a bank of capacito…

A Simple Model For Predicting Foam Spread Over Liquids

B. N. J. Persson、Martin Dahlberg1994-01-01Fire Safety Science

An approximate theoretical model of foam spreading on a liquid surface has been formulated. The model is analogous to the spreading of oil slicks on water surfaces. Viscous friction is assumed to be the dominating mechanism in opposing the foam spread. The friction is described by a lumped friction constant. The sprea…
