Optical Properties of Semiconductor Quantum Dots in Glass Matrix

A. I. Ekimov1991-01-01Physica Scripta

Low temperature optical spectra of semiconductor microcrystals grown in a glass matrix demonstrate the effect of size quantization of the energy spectrum of Coulomb interacting electron-hole pairs. The phenomena and microscopic mechanism of ionization of microcrystals under optical excitation are regarded.

Reminiscing on silane coupling agents

Edwin P. Plueddemann1991-01-01Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology

—When K. L. Mittal asked me to provide a historical account of the applications of silane coupling agents in adhesion, I decided to write in the form of a personal account of my last 45 years in this line of study. No attempt is made to make the history comprehensive, or to recognize the host of other researchers who…

Aging of air-corona-treated polypropylene film

Joan M. Strobel、Mark Strobel、Christopher S. Lyons 等 5 位作者1991-01-01Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology

X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (ESCA), wettability measurements, and an ink adhesion test were used to characterize changes in the surface properties of air-corona-treated polypropylene (PP) films upon aging under a variety of storage conditions. No changes in ESCA O/C atomic ratios as a function of aging were obser…

Effect of Zr, Sn and Al Additions on Deformation Mode and Beta Phase Stability of Metastable Beta Ti Alloys.

Seishi Ishiyama、Shuji Hanada、Osamu Izumi1991-01-01ISIJ International

The relation between deformation mode and β phase stability was investigated using Ti-16V and Ti-7Cr base alloys doped with Sn, Zr and Al as ternary or quaternary additions. Sn and Al additions change the dominant deformation mode from (332) twinning in the binary alloys to deformation induced martensitic transformati…

High-Luminance Green Zn2SiO4:Mn Thin-Film Electroluminescent Devices Using an Insulating BaTiO3 Ceramic Sheet

Tadatsugu Minami、Toshihiro Miyata、Shinzo Takata 等 4 位作者1991-01-01Japanese Journal of Applied Physics

High-luminance green emission has been achieved from an electroluminescent (EL) device consisting of a Zn 2 SiO 4 :Mn thin-film phosphor and a thick BaTiO 3 ceramic insulator. The EL characteristics are strongly dependent on the preparation conditions of the Zn 2 SiO 4 :Mn thin film deposited by rf magnetron sputterin…

Processing, Mechanical Properties, and Oxidation Behavior of Silicon Oxynitride Ceramics

Masayoshi Ohashi、Shuzo Kanzaki、H. Tabata1991-01-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

Silicon oxynitride ceramics were prepared by hot‐pressing an equimolar Si 3 N 4 + SiO 2 mixture with 3 mol% CeO 2 . The Ce 2 O 3 /SiO 2 ratio of intergranular phase (liquid phase) increased as the formation of Si 2 N 2 O proceeded. The intergranular liquid remained as a glass on cooling until the Ce 2 O 3 /SiO 2 ratio…

Identification of Some Foam-Active Compounds in Champagne Base Wines

F. Brissonnet、Alain Maujean1991-01-01American Journal of Enology and Viticulture

An original method of analyzing the foam-active compounds in Champagne base wine was used, by extraction of a foam wine; after the collection of foam (by constant artificial effervescence), which collapsed into a foam wine, we analyzed the latter comparatively with the remainder wine (which remained after the extracti…

Effect of Heating an Aqueous Suspension of Chitosan on the Crystallinity and Polymorphs.

Kozo Ogawa1991-01-01Agricultural and Biological Chemistry

Changes in the crystallinity and polymorph of chitosan, which may affect its functionality, by heating (up to 200°C) its water suspension were studied by X-ray diffraction measurements, using tendon chitosan prepared by N-deacetylation of a crab tendon chitin, and chitosan powders with various degrees of polymerizatio…

Studies of mixed-valence states in three-dimensional halogen-bridged gold compounds, Cs2Au I Au III X6, (X = Cl, Br or I). Part 2. X-Ray photoelectron spectroscopic study

Hiroshi Kitagawa、Norimichi Kojima、Tsuyoshi Nakajima1991-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Dalton Transactions

The mixed-valence states in Cs2AuIAuIIIX6(X = Cl, Br or I) were systematically studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy of the Au 4f region for the first time. The gold valence states in halogeno complexes of AuI and AuIII were also studied. In Cs2Au2X6 the difference between the oxidation state of AuI and that of…

Infrared spectroscopy has been used to analyse the gas-phase reaction products, and the related adsorbed species, obtained from the decomposition of methanol over TiO2, ZrO2 or HfO2 catalysts after consecutive 10 min heating periods at 50 °C intervals between room temperature and 400 °C. Somewhat different results wer…
