Kwang‐Joo Kim、Minjun Kim、Jungmin Lee 等 6 位作者1998-01-01Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data

The solubility of 3-nitro-1,2,4-triazol-5-one in water was measured over the temperature range from 284.65 K to 367.55 K. The results were correlated by an exponential equation. Densities of the aqueous solutions have been measured at temperatures from 308.15 K to 368.15 K and at mole fractions of 0.0027 to 0.014. The…

Photoinduced fluorescence changes on E–Z isomerisation in azobenzene derivatives

P.S. Zacharias、S. Ameerunisha、S.R. Korupoju1998-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Perkin Transactions 2

New fluorosensors based on azobenzene derivatives have been synthesised, characterised and their photophysical properties investigated. Compounds 2a and 2b undergo E→Z photoisomerisation on irradiation at ≈330 nm accompanied by fluorescence enhancement. Z→E isomerisation in the dark is accompanied by a decrease in the…

The effect of two different thermal/chemical pretreatments on a high surface area zirconia sample has been studied using FTIR spectroscopy. As revealed by high resolution electron microscopy (HREM), the sample exhibits a significant concentration of small pores and cavities with size ranging from 1 to 2 nm. When pretr…

Reduction of Heat Transfer Fouling by the Addition of Wood Pulp Fibers

J. Middis、Scott Paul、Hans Müller‐Steinhagen 等 4 位作者1998-01-01Heat Transfer Engineering

Heat transfer experiments with a saturated CaS04 solution were carried out in a closed-loop test rig containing an externally heated test section. Reproducible fouling curves were measured for the solution without fibers. The buildup of deposit was asymptotic, which implied that the fouling process was a combination o…

Geology And Paleontology Of The Lower Miocene Pollack Farm Fossil Site Delaware

R.N. Benson1998-01-01Library, Museums and Press - UDSpace (University of Delaware)

The Pollack Farm Site near Cheswold, Delaware, is named for a borrow pit excavated during highway construction. The excavation exposed a portion of the Cheswold sands of the lower Miocene Calvert Formation. Two sand intervals (Cheswold C-3 and C-4) yielded a diverse assemblage of land and marine vertebrate remains and…

Factors controlling the transformation of natural ikaite from Shiowakka, Japan.

Toshihiko Ito1998-01-01GEOCHEMICAL JOURNAL

Ikaite (CaCO3·6H2O) transforms to calcite, aragonaite and/or vaterite, which are the polymorphs of calcium carbonate, at normal temperature and pressure. The presence of water promotes the transformation of natural ikaite to calcite in a room but the presence of magnesium ion in a solution reduces the transformation r…

The Performance of Sewing Threads with Respect to Seam Appearance

Jintu Fan、W. Leeuwner1998-01-01Journal of the Textile Institute

This paper reports an experimental investigation into the effect of the physical and mechanical properties of sewing threads on the seam appearance of lightweight fabrics, which are prone to seam pucker. In this work, a range of forty-two commercial sewing threads of various ticket numbers, yarn structures, and from v…

Evaluation of Thermoelectric Properties of Impurity-doped PbTe

Masaki Orihashi、Yasutoshi Noda、H.T. Kaibe 等 4 位作者1998-01-01Materials Transactions JIM

PbTe single crystals were prepared by the Bridgman method, where either Ag2Te or PbI2 was doped as the source material of silver or iodine. The hole concentration was successfully controlled in the range from 2.0×1024 to 9.0×1024 m−3 by doping 100 to 700 mol ppm Ag2Te, and then the conduction type changed at 1000 mol…

Model Development of Slag Foaming.

Surinder S. Ghag、Peter C. Hayes、Hae-Geon Lee1998-01-01ISIJ International

A general model of foaming has been developed which relates the structure of a foam stabilised by viscoelastic forces to the bubble rupturing processes. For the specific case of negligible bubble coalescence within the foam it has been shown that, in the region of linearity between the foam height and gas flux, the re…

Silvio Aime、Mauro Botta、Rachel S. Dickins 等 7 位作者1998-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Dalton Transactions

Lanthanide complexes of macrocyclic monoamidetris(phosphinate) ligands are partially hydrated in aqueous solution. Introduction of a chiral centre into the amide group leads to the formation of only two non-interconverting complex diastereoisomers (2∶1 for α-phenylethyl and 4∶1 for α-1-naphthylethyl). Electrode roughness effects on the breakdown of air-insulated apparatus

A.M. Mahdy、H. Anis、Sayed A. Ward1998-01-01IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation

The dielectric breakdown of air insulating systems is believed to be sensitive to local irregularity of the electric field which may result from the presence of defects such as contaminants adhering to electrode surfaces and surface roughness. Normally metal machining methods are used to eliminate such electrode surfa…
