Effect of Alloying Elements on Mechanical Properties of Titanium Alloys for Medical Implants

Yoshimitsu Okazaki、Yoshimasa Ito、Atsuo Ito 等 4 位作者1993-01-01Journal of the Japan Institute of Metals and Materials

Titanium alloys for medical implants were casted using 5∼20 mass%Zr, 10∼20%Sn, 4∼8%Nb, 2∼4%Ta and 0∼0.2%Pd as alloying elements instead of using harmful Al and V.The alloys were forged in their α and α+β regions followed by annealing at 973 K for 7.2 ks. The annealed microstructures of the alloys consisted mainly of t…

EBSP, Progress in Technique and Applications

Jarle Hjelen、R. Ørsund、Eivind G. Hoel 等 6 位作者1993-01-01Texture Stress and Microstructure

To measure grain orientation in SEM with high accuracy a new EBSP calibration software is developed. Grain orientation determination is simply based on marking three zone axes in the live EBSP. The EBSP‐technique has been applied to study misorientation between subgrains in high purity and commercially pure aluminium.…

Effects of Cation Disordering in a Natural MgAl2O4 Spinel Observed by Rectangular Parallelepiped Ultrasonic Resonance and Raman Measurements

Hyunchae Cynn、Orson L. Anderson、Malcolm Nicol1993-01-01Birkhäuser Basel eBooks

At moderate temperatures, the elastic properties of natural MgAl2O4 spinel differ in several significant ways from properties of synthetic spinels. Below 1000 K, the ultrasonic resonant frequencies of an ordered natural spinel change significantly after heat treatment; at higher temperatures, both types of spinels hav…

Abstract Thermal recovery of radiation defects and microstructural change in UO2 fuels irradiated under LWR conditions (burnup: 25 and 44 GWd/t) have been studied after annealing at temperature range of 450-1,800°C by X-ray diffractometry and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The lattice parameter of as-irradiat…

Status of liposomes as MR contrast agents

Evan C. Unger、DEKANG SHEN、Thomas Fritz1993-01-01Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Recent work on the development of liposomal magnetic resonance (MR) contrast agents has yielded structures with higher overall relaxivity than that of other nanoparticles of similar diameter. Liposomes incorporating membrane-bound complexes of manganase ("memsomes") produce greater hepatic enhancement per micromole of…

R. Sipehia、Giuseppe Martucci、Michaela Barbarosie 等 4 位作者1993-01-01Artificial Cells Blood Substitutes and Biotechnology

Ammonia plasma generated by electrical discharge at low pressure was employed for the surface modification of PTFE and ePTFE. A new chemistry at the plasma treated surfaces is reported. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy studies showed the incorporation of C-N, C-O, C = O etc functional groups on the plasma treated surf…

A Psychophysical Model for Objective Fabric Hand Evaluation: An Application of Stevens's Law

Jinlian Hu、Wenxiang Chen、A. Newton1993-01-01Journal of the Textile Institute

Previous work on fabric hand evaluation is reviewed. By using a multiple regression approach, four models, namely, a linear model, Webber-Fechner's law, Kawabata–Niwas's law and Stevens's law, for primary hand prediction have been compared. That results show that deviations from Stevens's law are much smaller than tho…

Colin A. Fyfe、Leslie H. Randall、N. E. Burlinson1993-01-01Journal of Polymer Science Part A Polymer Chemistry

Abstract The uptake of water by nylon 6,6 [42DB Adipure (trade name of Dupont Canada Inc.)] at 100°C has been monitored by a combination of one‐dimensional proton NMR spectroscopy, relaxation time ( T 1 and T 2 ) measurements and proton microscopic NMR imaging techniques. The relaxation times of the water absorbed int…

Magnetohydrodynamic flows in ducts with insulating coatings

L. Buehler、S. Molokov1993-01-01Repository KITopen (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology)

Effective insulation of the electrically conducting channel walls leads to a tolerable magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) pressure drop of liquid metal flows in self-cooled fusion reactor blankets. Such insulation prevents closed current circuits over conducting walls and reduces the total current, which determines the pressur…

Effect of Surfactant on Production of Monodispersed O/W Emulsion in Membrane Emulsification.

Tadao Nakashima、Masataka Shimizu、Masato Kukizaki1993-01-01KAGAKU KOGAKU RONBUNSHU

Amy Novick-Cohen、L. A. Peletier1993-01-01Proceedings of the Royal Society of Edinburgh Section A Mathematics

Synopsis The steady states of the Cahn–Hilliard equation are studied as a function of interval length, L , and average mass, m . We count the number of nontrivial monotone increasing steady state solutions and demonstrate that if m lies within the spinodal region then for a.e. there is an even number of such solutions…
